sorted by sender, reading through sorted messages

In my inbox, I often will sort by sender.  Then I want to go through the messages trying to find a detail.  As I read a message, I click on the arrow to follow next.  But this just reads the next message as if it was sorted by date and time, not the next message in the sorted by sender view.  This makes the sort by feature a lot weaker, am I doing something wrong that I can't just go down a list sorted by sender and quickly go message by mesage?

what if you are reading one of the emails and want to follow next or follow previous without returning to the sort window?

Ah! Now I get your problem.
You're reading messages in separate windows. But you don't realize that you're not opening a window to a message, but that you're actually opening a separate view to a folder.
The title of the window is 'View Folder foldername of accountname'
To make that more clear is by selecting:
View -> Show message list
in the view folder window.

I guess the 'Follow previous' and 'Follow next' buttons will act on the order selected in the folder window.

As somebody who almost solely reads his messages in the preview pane I tend to forget there are other ways.

so is there a problem about receiving emails where you are viewing the contents immediately?  As far as viruses are concerned, I thought using a preview mode made you more susceptible to catching the virus.
But I do see how when I want to go through a senders posts, enabling preview mode will help a lot.
