Problems downloading Gmail (sending email works), GMail and The Bat!

I'm interested in using The Bat! for accessing gmail. I am able to use Outlook Express to access gmail, and it works (for both incoming and outgoing email.) So I think I have gmail configured properly at Google's end.

So, today I downloaded the trial version 3.62 of The Bat!, and configured it exactly according to the information given at http://www.geocities.com/thebat3_5/

Unfortunately, I can't get The Bat! to work for incoming (downloading) email. However, it works wonderfully for sending email. Go figure.

Here's the error message log I get when I try to download messages.

 11/4/2005, 14:33:36: IMAP - Initiating TLS handshake
 11/4/2005, 14:33:36: IMAP - Certificate S/N: 20B9F9, algorithm: RSA (1024 bits), issued from 13 Dec 2004 to 13 Dec 2005, for 1 host(s): pop.gmail.com.
11/4/2005, 14:33:36: IMAP - Owner: US, California, Mountain View, Google Inc, pop.gmail.com.
11/4/2005, 14:33:36: IMAP - Issuer: ZA, Western Cape, Cape Town, Thawte Consulting cc, Certification Services Division, Thawte Server CA, server-certs@thawte.com.
 11/4/2005, 14:33:36: IMAP - TLS handshake complete
 11/4/2005, 14:33:36: IMAP - 1: Connected to IMAP server (pop.gmail.com)
! 11/4/2005, 14:33:36: IMAP - 1: Server closed connection

Any ideas? Is it some obscure configuration problem on "The Bat!" side? Could it be a problem with my router, or do I have to tweak some settings at gmail's end? Note again that I am able to download email using Outlook Express.

Thanks.

Gmail access is via POP3, not IMAP. You'll need to delete the account and define it anew as POP3.

Thanks! That worked. Don't know how I missed that. Out of curiousity, is it possible to change an account from IMAP to POP3? Or does a change require a whole new account?

Conversion of an existing account from IMAP to POP3 is possible in some email clients but not others (not sure about The Bat!), and generally causes problems even when it is possible. It's best to start fresh.

I have a familiar problem. My situation is:
I use a proxy+ to share internet over my home network, so i use mapped links in proxy+:
TCP 43000 pop.gmail.com:995 and
TCP 43001 smtp.gmail.com:465
That's why in my account in The bat i use 192.168.1.1 (address of my proxy+ server), port 43000 - for pop and
192.168.1.1, port 43001 for smtp.
It's ok but The Bat cannot connect to gmail:

All setting are right, becouse now i use microsoft Outlook and the setting are the same.
Microsoft's shit tell me:
The certificate's CN name does not match to passed value. Continue anyway?
And when i press "Yes" everting is ok
I try to edin my host of my Windows XP , bet result was the same.
Please help me
