Why cant I see msgs after reopening the Bat, Bat main window is blank except for menu bar at top

After installing the Bat v3.71.03 and after a restart the program opens but the main window appears blank except the main menu bar across the top. The rest of the screen is blank. I am using XP home edition, norton anti-virus & firewall.

Sometimes when I open the program I get a msg that there are jobs uncompleted and do I want to wait before closing the program. If I select Yes the message keeps reappearing. If I select no the Bat closes.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I have resisted upgrading from 1.62r to version 3 because I have experienced problems accessing the old mailboxes after upgrading at home.

I finally backed up my version 1 mail, uninstalled version 1, and installed version 3.71.03. This worked fine until I shut it down and restarted it. Now I get a blank screen except for the menu bar and cannot access any of my mail.

The Bat is flying, but I cannot figure out how to access anything.

Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing?

Edited to add:

Have you tried Roelof's suggestion in another thread where he says to "close TB and look for the tbuser.def file in your mail directory, rename it to tbuser.old and start TB"

In desperation I was trying just about everything and finally got to view, window split mode, and changed the setting, everything is OK at least for the moment.

I have exactly the same problem, can you please be more specific about how you solved it. ¡What is window split mode?

For anyone reaching here. If you are using a non english languaje, change to english, so you dont have to transalate the names:

Then Plany with:

View -> Window split mode

That will bring the screen to work again.

View (main menu option) ... Windows Split Mode (sub menu).

This setting governs the way the 3 component frames - accounts/folders, Message list, Message preview pane - of the main window are laid out.

I had a support call (IM) from an old friend last night who had the same problem. The preview pane had somehow resized to fill the entire TB! main window. Selecting an alternative split mode fixed the problem.

Thanks people.  I just got the bat and had to shut down my puter because of some other problems..and on powering it up again....couldn't get at anything.  Thank you so much for the help. 8)
