Lost ability to read HTML mail :(

Ive been using The Bat for my main POP account for some time, and have been very happy with it. I recently decided I would abandon Thunderbird and move ALL my POP accounts into The Bat, which I did.

Since then, all my HTML emails are not displaying properly. Every graphic appears as a broken link, and often the fonts are a mix between html and fixed font.

I have changed my Preferences to always use HTML in view mode, but it makes no difference.

This problem occurs even on new emails, and not just one the ones I imported from Thunderbird.

Help, how can I fix this please

Thanks

TB will show all pictures included with a message, however, those pictures that aren't sent with the message, won't be displayed. Only way to get those pictures visible is by double clicking on the HTML attachment icon, so that the HTML part is opened by your browser.
Basically this is seen as a security advantage.

I've never experienced your font issue. I can only guess that this concerns fonts that aren't installed on your system, but I'm not sure about that.

Hi Roelof, this seems a bit odd as Im sure it only started happening recently. Was this feature added in the recent version ?

I udnerstand why it doesnt show images by default, as it can help spammers sometimes. Most clients have a 'safe senders' list which lets you automatically load images from sites, like Ebay, or maybe newsletters you recieve.
Are there any plans to add this to The Bat?

Thanks
Paul

No, this feature wasn't reently included. TB has always been like this. I've been using TB for six years now nad it never displayed them.
I don't know why you didn't notice it before.

Yes, there are plans to add this.

Hello all,

I am looking at The Bat as an alternative to OE or Thunderbird, but am very disappointed about the lack of images in html.

I know you have plans for it to happen, I wonder if you can give any idea of when because I would not like to use The Bat as it is without that feature.

Thanks very much,
Mark.

If this is added it will be great but I have found it is less important than it first seemed even though it was a major obsticle when deciding to purchase.
Most of the HTML emails I open quickly open in the browser.  However when they do implement the choice I will use The Bat to read them :|  :)

ability to download images linked in HTML messages is almost finished and AFAIK this feature will be available in beta very soon.

I have just bought the Bat, but I wont't use it until I can download images linked in HTML messages....I'll wait for the beta version that Marek Mikus mentionned. This is is very important to me... never mind the principles.

I was browsing for some other subject and just came across this, so pardon the rekindling of an old subject.

I get emails, usually from relatives, that have the text, and the images that I can view in tabs, but if I view as HTML, I don't see the images.  The properties give the location as a CID, for example, "cid:a06230902c12f29eb2d5e@[192.168.2.2].1.3". I don't really know what this means; somehow, The Bat is able to get the images, but I assume the HTML is looking somewhere else for it.

It works fine for most emails I get, and I consider the lack of images in the internal viewer to be a feature, not a problem, but it would be nice to be able to see the others (I think).  But certainly not enough of a problem to stop using my favorite email client for many years.  :)

Thanks,

Marty Fried

I just went back to the Bat, because of the flexible folders and better spam control, etc.  But now I'm noticing that the HTML SUCKS.  So I'm going back again to Thunderbird.  Quite a lot of work, actually.
