Some suggestions and one problem

Hello all,
I have just been using the bat for a few days, trying to decide whether I want to buy it or not... here are a few of the things I have noticed.

1/ autocomplete when typing in addresses is very slow, i have finished typing "peter smith" and press SEND before it gives suggestions.

2/ I send to "peter smith" and the bat tries to send, but then gives a server error - ie it is not smart enough to know "peter smith" is a name, not an email address and it should automatically assign an email address to that name. (OE has done this for years)

The inbox goes bold when messages arrive, but it does not say how many new/unread messages there are in the folder

no html images in line (we know that is hopefully coming)

when entering custom keyboard shortcuts, it does not tell you if one of those is used for something else already.

The problem I am having is that I belong to a webforum where you can reply to messages in your POP client, you do not have to go online to the webforum to reply. This has worked easily with OE and Thunderbird, but with the Bat I get a message which says

"Your post below did not make it to the forum, because of the following error: The message was empty, please fill in the message field. Program Name: Goldfish and Category Name: General Discussion"

Which is nonsense, the message is not empty, but perhaps The Bat is doing something weird to the outgoing message?

Thanks,
Mark.

When you know that, you could wait a moment before pressing 'send'. Apart from that, I'm always typing the address first, before typing the message, as that enables TB to use its proper templates and such.

When you send a message to 'Peter Smith' TB parses that to 'petersmith' as spaces aren't allowed in e-mail addresses. Subsequently it sends it and your ISP's server converts that to petersmith@yourISP and sends that on to that user or refuses it when there isn't such a user.
I just tried that, not with 'peter smith' of course but with the name of my brother who resides at the same mail provider as I do.

That has something to do with the width of your account tree pane. Out of the box TB has an account tree pane showing three columns: name, unread and total
You can either make your name column smaller or your account tree pane wider.

On the beta list that complaint has been made too. And a fix has been promised. I've got no idea when.

It's a bit difficult to answer that without seeing the actual messages.
Could you post a message as sent by OE and as sent by TB? Please include the headers. When the messages have a private nature you can also send them to me by PM.

I have trouble with the keyboard shortcuts also. There are at least 3 different ones to default-forward depending on what window you may be in (ctrl-0,shift-alt F5 etc) A bit confusing :|  ;)
