How to recover message base?, Instructions needed

Hello everybody.
Yesterday my Windows XP SP2 operating system accidentally stopped to work, maybe some system file got corrupted.
Now with a bootable cd I've tried to access the hard disk. No problem in the files stored, it's just a OS problem but now I'm not able to open TheBat! and make a backup.
I'm still able to copy all the folders with messages already saved.
I'm just asking you if there is an easy way to restore accounts, messages, filters and address books manually (not through a backup/restore procedure inside the software).
Is it possible?
What do I have to do?
Thanks in advance.

everything important (messages, account settings, address books, filters, templates etc.) is in the mail folder - so first make a backup of it just in case.
(btw I always backup this way, not with the built-in tool)

Maybe just reinstalling TB on top of the current installation  is enough. If you can't see your accounts, goto Preferences -> System and set the mail folder again.

Ok but I can't install it over, since I will format the hd after the accident occurred.
I'll backup the mail folders, install TheBat! and then copy the folders back. Then is it just needed to go to Preferences -> System and set the base folder?
Anything else to recover all messages, filters and address books??

As everything mentioned is inside the mail folder, I guess that's all you need to do to have TB working.
Since you have a backup, you can't really do something irreversible - so try it.

If I correctly remember, you can set the mail folder when you install the app - if so, just put your backed-up mail folder somewhere, start the installer, select this folder when prompted, and you'll have it working when the install is finished. Or set the folder later in Prefernces.
