Christmas Edition Fails Gmail SMTP

Using TB Pro 3.95.6, I cannot send through Gmail SMTP. Currently my settings are:

SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 465
Connection: TLS
SMTP Authentication: Yes
Use specific settings: Checked
Require secure authentication: Unchecked

However, I have tried all possible combinations ie. StartTLS/TLS, Ports 465/587 etc.

Sending always fails with the error below:

29-Dec-2006, 15:24:20: SEND  - sending mail messages - 2 messages in queue
29-Dec-2006, 15:24:20: SEND  - Initiating TLS handshake

29-Dec-2006, 15:24:21: SEND  - sending message to demo@gmail.com
!29-Dec-2006, 15:24:22: SEND  - Server reports error. The response is: 5.5.1 Authentication Required c2sm17198423ana
29-Dec-2006, 15:24:22: SEND  - sending message to demo@gmail.com
!29-Dec-2006, 15:24:23: SEND  - Server reports error. The response is: 5.5.1 Authentication Required c2sm17198423ana
29-Dec-2006, 15:24:24: SEND  - connection finished - 0 messages sent
29-Dec-2006, 15:24:24: SEND  - Some messages were not sent - check the log for details

As can be seen, Gmail always reports an error with authentication.

I have tried sending with other email clients like Becky and there is no problem.

Please advise.

Thanks.

It works fine for me this way:
- "Perform SMTP Authentication (RFC2554)" is ticked
- "Same user/password as for Mail Retrieval" is selected
- "Require secure authentication" is unticked

I have tried the above combination among others. It doesn't work. The error still appears.

Any advice?

Are you able to retrieve the mail from Gmail with the Bat!?
(Is your Gmail login|password stored in the Bat! correctly?)

Maybe you should roll back to version 3.95.3  ( its working for me there!)

As I sayd: v3.95.06 (and all previous) works just fine with Gmail.

Has this issue been resolved yet?

Will a 3.95.7 version be released any time soon??

Its been more than a week now since "the incredibly buggy Christmas edition" was released, and I cannot use TheBat if it cant send using GMAIL smtp.

(I've been using Thunderbird for a week now, and i'm simply not going to risk TheBat again until there is a truely STABLE version available!)  :|

It never was an issue.
the Bat! v3.95.06 works perfectly with the Gmail's SMTP server.

If you do not believe - I can send you a letter through the smtp.gmail.com if you want.

i am using 4.0.24.25v, still have the same issue - still can not send out can anyone really help please.

I am using 4.0.24 and I am also not able to send out from hotmail or gmail.

What is going on please fix this bug for all smtp pop services...

Also put a solution on this forum

Please configure TB correctly, it's perfectly able to send mail via gmail's smtp server.
Sending mail via hotmail's smtp server is another issue, hotmail has no outgoing server available for outgoing messages, nothing to do with TB.

My smtp settings for gmail are:

Account -> Properties -> Transport -> Send mail:
smtp server: smtp.gmail.com
connection: secut=re to dedicated port (TLS)
Port: 465
Authentication:
Select 'Perform SMTP Authentication'
Select 'Same user/password as for mail retrieval'
Unselect the rest
