Column sorts not tied to account any more.

Been using "The Bat" for many years, trialing the latest version. I have unique column sorts per account. In older version, this worked fine, "The Bat" remembered the column sorts "per list" and didn't bug me. Now every account shares the same column sort and when I switch from account to account it bugs me with a "View mode changed do you want to save changes?" prompt. It doesn't matter if I select yes or no, the column sorts still don't end up where I left them.

How can I turn off this incredibly annoying "Feature"?

Other than that, "The Bat's" still as good as it's ever been.

Create as many view modes as you use different sorting methods. Bind the view modes to the appropriate folders.

Thanks for answering.

I was afraid you'd tell me that. Wouldn't it have been better to preserve the old behavior and make these "view modes" optional?

So, what you're saying then is that's it not posible to disable these view modes and if I want the old behavior, I have to put in extra effort.

To be honest I wasn't very enthousiastic about viewmodes either when they were introduced, but now that I'm used to it, they're rather comfortable.

I'm fairly certain that if you select 'no view mode'
for all your folders, they will display the old
behaviour of just remembering their column settings.

Additionally, under view => global view mode, choose
'no view mode', so that it is the default when new
folders/accounts are created.

You should be able to switch back and fourth between
'no view mode' and different 'viewmodes' to get the
best of both worlds.

Here are some of my view modes I couldn't do without:
- list only emails received in the last week
- list only emails received in the last month
- list all received emails only
- list all sent emails only
- list all emails with attachments

The point of view modes isn't just to 'remember
columns'; the filtering is just as important.

It'll only do that if you manually change column
settings whilst using a viewmode. As suggested above,
if you want to have a unique setting for some folders,
select 'no view mode' for them.

For folders which share the same column settings, use
'<generic view mode>' for them.

To disable the prompt, once you have set-up your view
modes how you wish, choose 'ignore changes' in the
view mode manager.
