Due to a bug in The Bat!, I just sent several hundreds copies of same message to each of a couple dozens addresses, overfilling the inboxes of some of them in the process. You can imagine how embarrassing this is.
I complained about the bug almost a year ago (TIDs#17827 and #20016).
I really love The Bat! otherwise and hate to have to leave...
Here's the bug:
>I'm using the Bat 3.65.03 with IMAP server. My outbox
>is set to "fully sunchronize" with the server. Even
>though I don't store any messages as drafts, the files
>apparently corresponding to outbox on the harddrive
>(*.tbb in my mail folder) keep growing, until some
>occupy >2Gb, at which point I get error messages and >can't send mail anymore. The only solution seems
>to be deleting all the *.tbb and *.tbi files manually.
>Further, if I try to send a message, sometimes it gets >"stuck" in the outbox, and is being sent repeatedly
>until I, again, purge the *.tbb files manually. This
>seems to happen when I compose the message while
>offline and then connect to IMAP server.
The response I got was
>in your case, it seems to be a confusion between the
>local Outbox folder and the remote one; it seems that
>it writes to both, but deletes only from the cache of
>the remote, leaving the local copy intact.
>please try to disable the remote Outbox (account props
> -> mail management) and Sent Mail, then do a folder
>maintenance on your local Outbox (TBB and TBI files).
- but this basically makes useless the whole point of IMAP which is to have your mail on server.
I really think you guys should at least formally acknowledge the bug...
