That Bat Xmas Version - Inbox folders & messages missing, Occurred multiple times after reloading The Bat! (After Reboots, etc.)

I spent a long ass time organizing all my e-mail one day and decided to color code and place all my old e-mail into specific folders: personal, bussiness, shopping (orders, notices, etc), account confirmations etc.

I use the latest version of That Bat! v3.95.6. and to cut to the chase here is what happened. I usually leave my computer running for weeks on end without rebooting. I decided one day to reboot, exited the bat properly (settings saved), and rebooted. Then I noticed many of my folders had 0 e-mail, when prior to the reboot, had over 200+ emails. This happened several times, and I decided to simply reinstall it after removing it from my C:, registry, etc. I got all my mail back from the previous 5 or so months so thats good.

What version of the Bat! should I use? How can I prevent this from happening again? How do I properly back up my mail and folders?

Note: I export my mail, and also use the Tool... Backup / Restore options to no avail. I still am missing mail and whatnot.

Any suggestions??

Anyone have any idea? I want to start organizing them again, but I'm afraid I'm wasting my time.

I have never saw this, if there are folders displayed in TB and files are on HDD, I don't understand, why zeros could be displayed.

I'm not sure either. This has happened several times though. I am very careful too. I backup everything, and even when I try to restore a previous point, it still doesn't retrieve a lot of my data.

Hmmm, exactly the same just happened to me.  I reorganized all of my messages and folders into new folder categories.  Some time later, after rebooting, I noticed that several of the new folders had zero messages and folders in them.  I tried restoring from backups made prior to and during the reorganization, and no folders that I had put into the new high level folders get restored.  

The good news is that I know that most of the 'lost' data still exists.  I am in the process of moving my system from one partition to another.  If I boot to the old partition and run The Bat!, I can open my old database with the old folder structure.  But if I Backup this database and then Restore it, running The Bat from the new system partition, and Restore that backup into the new database, the missing folders are not restored.

For example, in the old database I had a folder called 'Expenses'.  After my original Restore in the new system, I created a folder called 'Finances' where I move several folders including 'Expenses'.  Then, all folders under 'Finances' disappeared (I believe after a normal shutdown and reboot).  If I Restore from the same Backup that I originally used to make the new database, the 'Expenses' does not appear anywhere.

At least my data is not lost, but if anyone can help me to figure out how I can get the data into my new database without having to start from scratch (I spent several hours reorganizing all the old messages and folders into a new filing scheme) I would greatly appreciate it.

Okay, further reading in the forums informed me of how to fix this.  

Based on the advice I found here, first using Explorer, I confirmed that the new missing subfolders were in fact present in the folder tree created by The Bat!

Then putting focus on the account tree pane in The Bat!, pressing Ctrl-Alt-Shift-L magically & instantly brought them back.

But I understand that Ctrl-Alt-Shift-L only works if you are not using The Bat's database encyption feature.  It is a good thing that I decided to stop using that feature a few months ago, and decrypted everything.

It seems that this alarming 'disappearing folders' ghost has been haunting The Bat! for a while.  Chasing it has cost me a lot of time; thankfully nothing more.  Perhaps it is time the developers exorcised this demon once and for all.
