I always use the plain text editor.
When I want to reply to some html email, quite often the quoted message I reply to looks like a complete mess. Most often there are just too many empty lines, but sometimes there are tons of tabs and empty spaces between words, sentences etc.
Is there any way to quickly reformat the quoted text, for example to replace each occurence of two or more consecutive empty lines, e.g

with just one
>

and each occurance of two or more consecutive blanks (tabs, spaces) with one space?
