Update to 3.99 or wait for 4.0???

Prior to trying 3.99, I was running version 2.12. I only have a couple days left on my 3.99 trial and I am wondering if I should pay for the upgrade license or revert back to 2.12 and wait for version 4.0.

I am a little concerned that I will pay for 3.99 and version 4.0 will soon follow and I will not get a free upgrade.

Any suggestions?

Assuming there will be a fee for current 2.x and 3.x users and going to 4.0...

If 2.12 suits your needs, wait. Having used the bat! since v1.6 or something, the three series has little I use that I couldn't have managed without. Now, if you weren't worried about v4.0 I would say go for it because there are a few nice things about 3.x that make it wort the upgrade.

I am quite happy w/ voyager v3.99.3

I guess the real answer depends on when v4.0 is expected and what the costs will be. I haven't visited the TUBDL in a while, perhaps somebody there can help.

Neither on TBUDL nor on TBBETA are there any rumours about the release of v4.
Not that surprising, considering the fact that the v2 and v3 releases were quite unexpected too.
Keeping in mind that v2 and v3 were released on 1 September and that the current beta is numbered 3.99.9 I expect that Ritlabs has to release v4 within a month or has to implement hexadecimal version numering.

I've got no idea about the licensing scheme though.

Ritlabs will publish the upgrade policy within a month in a press release.

Well, I hope it includes people who JUST upgraded to 3.99! I paid my upgrade fee yesterday!!! <smile>
