Mystery: IMAP -> POP3 protocol switch, Protocol changed to POP without my input!

I have three accounts on my TB ver 3.99.3. One has for no evident reason decided that it wanted to be a POP3 account, not an IMAP. Nothing else in the properties seems to have changed; even the port remains 993. The other IMAP account, and the POP account in this TB install continue to function as advertised.

Although my (old?) help file says click a "Change" button to fix this, there is no such button.

I can still trick TB into sync'ing that IMAP folder if I play with the hostname, i.e. put in the IP address instead of the hostname. But very quickly TB loses its ability to check that account for new messages.

Is there a nice quick and dirty way to fix this, other than creating a new account?

Best regards,

We have not ever heard about this, and how to fix this. The only idea is to create a new IMAP account in The Bat!

New Discovery: All newly created accounts come up with the label 'Protocol: POP3' in that account's properties dialog box. Nevertheless, the account is functioning as an IMAP account.

Perhaps my 'Mystery' never occurred, and I was just having IMAP problems which were solved by recreating the account.

But it would be nice if the Properties for this account announced it was IMAP, not POP3.

This is a known issue of POP3/IMAP4 protocol mislabeling. Ritlabs have fixed this problem in the latest beta version of The Bat! You can test it if you wish. To get the BETA version, please subscribe to TBBETA mailing list. To subscribe to TBBETA, just send an e-mail to tbbeta-join@thebat.dutaint.com , then post the message to the list and ask how can you get the lastest beta. The list subscribers will reply to you.

Alternatively, you can wait until Ritlabs will release the next final version of The Bat! with this error fixed.

Thank you!!!!
