Removing theBat! to reinstall trial copy

I'm having issues with theBat!, so I decided to remove theBat! and download a fresh trial copy to see if that work correctly.

However, each time I download a trial version, and run it, it says it's registered to me. And when I open it it has all my previous account and proprties already in it.

After I removed theBat!(before attempting to download a fresh trial version) I searched my computer to see if any files of thebat remained. My search turned up no traces of it. So I don't understand why when I download a new trial version, it shows it's registered to me.

I look forward to being informed by your replies.

open Regedit, select top node, and do a search for keys(only) named
rit
Check 'Match whole string only' to avoid unrelated matches.
Delete entire keys(folders in the left Regedit pane). This way you'll remove anything about theBat from the registry.

Then search your drives for 'the bat!' and 'ritlabs' and delete any folder found (of course make sure there isn't something important like message bases inside).
Enable searching in hidden, system, non-indexed etc. folders.

After doing this, there should be no trace of theBat on the PC.

thank you.

Where is Regedit?

click the Windows 'Start' button.
Click 'Run'
In the box type
regedit
and click OK. This will start the Windows registry editor, regedit.exe

Thank you again.
I really appreciate the help. I did all that you instructed.

However, when I downloaded a new trial version of thebat! it asked if I wanted to keep my previous mail accounts.

If everything was removed, how would it know to ask that?

It left the mail files from the previous install in C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR LOGIN\Application Data\The Bat!

You can say "yes, use them and if you don't want to, move that folder to the desk top and let it create a totally fresh instal

You can close the bat and move them back later or just delete them - your choice :D
