Bat doesn't fly after update, big problem after update

After doing some unanswered posts on the ticket-list (I'm a bit impatient, I admit) I finally discovered the forum.
I just hope someone over here can help me, because I'm lost without my email.
Excuse me if I just copy and paste, but I don't feel like typing it all over again.

Ever since I installed The bat! on my new laptop (Sony Vaio VGN-FZ19VN with Vista Business), both my spam-filter and my news ticker didn't seem to work anymore.
I hoped this would be resolved by the latest update, but it didn't. As a matter of fact, it worstened.
As soon as I double-click on the The Bat! icon, the password field pops up (I have it password protected). So far so good.
However, as soon as I click 'OK' (after entering the correct password), nothing happens.
The bat! seems to have started (it is active in the processes tab in the Taskmanager) but the GUI doesn't load up and The Bat! is demanding 50% of my processor load and uses about 4,5 Mb of memory, which results in not being able to start up any other application untill the The Bat! process has been killed.
I tried to uninstall and re-install the bat but all to no avail (I guess that when you uninstall, the registry settings remain, because on re-installation it asked for the startup password again).

I would have liked to send an support email, but as you might notice, I'm unable to send or receive email at the current moment.

A bit later:

Just a small update.
I managed to get Tbe Bat! working again.
I uninstalled it and then ran a registry-cleaner.
Thereafter I re-installed the latest version of the bat, and this time, it started correctly.
However, the mailticker still doesn't work.
I think I also managed to get the spamfilter working by moving all the bayesIt files (blacklist, Whitelist, etc...) to another location (at least now the settings don't seem to be rest everytime I look at them).

I would like to have a solution to the mailticker problem though.

And in the end, a couple of minutes ago:

Another small update.
After a couple of restarts of my laptop, the problem returned.
The Bat! starts up after the password, but only as a service. No GUI, 50% of my CPU and Internet explorer doesn't start up untill the bat is terminated.
Please advice as soon as possible, because this momentarlily seems to be the only way for me to contact you.

As you can see, the only way for me to get support right now is over the website, so I hope someone will be able to help me over here.

Greetings from Belgium,
Willy.

Ritlabs advises not to use BayesIt any longer, it's supposed to cause several problems. So please unistall BayesIt.
If you can't start TB (because of BayesIt), it suffices to simply delete the BayesIt plugin file.

Let's tackle the problems one by one, first we try to get you running, next we look after the ticker.

Hi Roelof,
Thanks for your answer.
I have to correct myself.
It wasn't BayesIt I was using, but the regular Bayes Filter (I think 2.0.4).
I uninstalled it, but there's no change.
Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Willy.

P.S.: Isn't the BayesIt spamfilter installed standard together with The Bat! ?

P.P.S.: In which folder would the original BayesIt filter be installed?

Another small update:

I just tried something new.
Instead of uninstalling it, I just ran the installer again and chose 'repair' instead of 'remove'.
This seems to enable the startup of The Bat! again. For how long, I don't know.
It looks to me there's something going wrong in the registry.

Any other plug-ins? (virus scanner or macro plug-ins)

Yes, BayesIt used to be installed with TB, but that stopped some time ago and if you didn't install it manually (as separate download) then it went away when installing a regular update of TB.

I do have the AVG virusscanner scanning my email, yes.

But I stumbled on something else which could be causing the problem.
I have 3 partitions on my laptop.
One with Vista Business, one with XP Professional and one for data.
I use Vista for personal stuff and XP for business.
My TB mail-folder is on de data-partition.
I installed TB on both Vista and XP (because I would like to be able to check my email both during work and outside office hours without having to reboot) and in both cases referred to the same folder on my data-disk in order to keep everything synchronised (i.e. when I check my mail in XP, the retrieved emails would also appear when I later startup TB in Vista).
It seems to work O.K. as long as I don't start TB when booted to XP.
However, the other way around doesn't give me any problems (after checking my email in Vista, rebooting into XP, TB starts up correctly in XP).

To sum it up:
If I boot into XP, check my email, shutdown and then boot into Vista, TB doesn't start up but it continues working in XP.
If I first boot into Vista, check my email, shutdown and then boot into XP, there's no problem (nor in Vista nor in XP).

I just noticed that I don't even have to check my mail in XP to mess up TB in Vista.
Just booting into XP is enough to prevent TB from starting in Vista later.

Anyone???

No one?

The problem still persists.

Once, the repair option didn't even do the trick.
Strangely enough, switching over to XP and starting the bat there did the trick this time.

Could it be because I use TB on bot XP and Vista but use the same mail-folders (on my data disk)?
