[ Closed ] The Bat For Linux?

Do you plan to produce Linux version of The Bat?

having in mind that the market share of Linux for desktops is below 1%, I doubt we'll ever see a Linux version. It just makes no sense to port an app to an OS that practically nobody uses.

Unfortunately I haven't been using The Bat! over the last few years because of fully switching to Linux. Besides the growing market share of linux, which indeed is still pretty low, I do think what Ritlabs *should* keep in mind is that The Bat! is (one of?) the best mail client(s) for pro-users, which do have a lot bigger share in this market and are willing to pay for good software more nowadays.

I hoped to see a change in Ritlabs' vision on Linux visiting this website today. Maybe someday in the future... ?

I think someone has a distorted view of Linux market share. Take a look on GoogleFight.com
"Microsoft Windows"   vs  Linux

Linux scores 516 Million hits versus Microsoft Windows
at  156 Million

Which is more popular?

he he he, always depends on the keywords.
Windows of course wins by miles, Windows XP loses, XP wins just, Vista also wins again Linux...
But you've posted that as joke anyway, right? :)

Professional email client like The bat is mostly used by professional users and professional users uses professional OS like linux. There is nothing to talk about :D

not sure what 'professional' exactly you see in an OS that has probably more than a hundred of "distro's" , each with its own peculiarities and a handful of fans. It's indeed the right choice for those who enjoy endless tweaking and troubleshooting.
Anyway, there are ways to run Windows apps under Linux, so maybe theBat can be used.

Please don't start a Linux-Windows war over here.
