Support for Gmail, I can't login to the new gmail's POP3

Hi There,

Gmail has launched POP3 support for their service. However, TheBAT cannot "connect to the server".

I'm using the Home Edition 3.01, trial version. And followed the exact configuration data provided by Gmail:

pop.gmail.com
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 995

smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
Use Authentication: Yes
Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
Port: 465 or 587

Can anyone help?

It works here with that version... (not tried send yet though - get's fine)

Connection = Secure to dedicated port (TLS)
Authentication = Regular
username = <username>@gmail.com, not just <username>

You did remember to go back and click the Gmail "Save changes" on the settings after going off to the "configuration settings" help page, didn't you?

almost everybody knows that gmail supports pop3 protocol now but i have problem when i try to connect with gmail server. i get every time the message as you see uknown CA certificate. the server didn't provide a root certificate during the session and there is no coresponding root certificate in your adress book. the connection may not be secure. please contact your server administrator (TLS handshake failure). what's up?

ok. now i know. when you use ssl connections and you get that message you'll have to remove RootCA.ABD and IntermCA.ABD. the bat! will rebuild them. after that everything will be ok :).

I've tried the settings provided by Gmail. I get the mail, but I can't send. It's a SMTP trouble, but... what?

Be NICE! I could be your boss someday!

Did you try both ports?
It works on 587 for me.
(I suppose that you had set the "STARTLS" and Authentication propperly)

I'm using the bat version 3.01.
I want to recieve Gmail and followed the exact configuration data provided by Gmail, didn't work. I tried the following:

smtp-server: smtp.gmail.com
authentication:
 v smtp-authentication
use specific accounts: (fill in user en password)
Click OK and return to mainwindow.
Connection: STARTTLS
Port: 587 (i also tried 465)

pop.gmail.com
Authentication: regular
Click OK en return to mainwindow.
Connection: STARTTLS
Port: 995

This doesn't connect me!!
Message:
never ending try to receive messages

Who can help?

Hi estherr

I had the same problem and I think the gmail help is slightly wrong.  If you change it to TLS it seems to work for pop

I got this answer by looking at the following screenshot posted by another user here

I've got the same problem as estherr, but with v3.65.03 Pro.  Have checked and rechecked multiple times all settings, in TB and gm, but still unable to connect for send or receive.

I'm ready to scrap my BAT and reload it, unless someone has found a solution.  (I'd sure rather not have to reinstall....)

You will have to change the Authentication (press the button) to Regular --> problem solved! (I am using the bat 4.0.20)
