The Bat has started to strip file extensions

I now have another slightly funny problem..  Has anyone else seen this?

When click to save an attachment elsewhere on my computer the file extension becomes removed.  For example I may have a .pdf file as an attachement.  I save it on my hard-drive and it is saved without the .pdf extension.

This is a real pain when I try to open or forward the file to someone else.

Any ideas?

Hello,

Do you see the extensions of the others files which are on your disk without to be save with TheBat!?

in case you can open these files with the associated application, it's more likely a Windows issue.

Open Windows Explorer, click
Tools -> Folder options -> 'View' tab, and make sure
'Hide extensions for known file types' is UN-checked.

Sacles:  This happens with .pdf .xls and other formats.  The extension is simply stripped away.  I have to go in and add the extension by hand and then the icon for the extension will appear and I can open the files with the appropriate program with no problem.  When I save files with other applications (Excel, Word, Adobe etc.) there is no such problem and the files are saved with the correct extension.  I think this is a problem with TB and not Windows.

Bigg One:  I will check your idea and it may work.  I am not sure why unclicking this would help as your suggestion seems to be that the file extension is still there, but hidden.  Anyway, I will be very happy if it now works.

Thanks!
Thomas

Are the file extensions included in the name when the messages arrive?
Are the attachments with this problem from the same (group of) contact(s)? Or does this happen with attachments from everybody?

Select a message with an attachment, press F9 (view source) and look for the start of the attachment. It has to look like this:
------------10A9711A9A70B86
Content-Type: image/jpeg;
name="img053.jpg"
Content-transfer-encoding: base64
Content-Disposition: attachment;
filename="img053.jpg"

The filename should be mentioned twice (including the extension), when that isn't the case the problem is at the sender side.
IIRC this can happen with Apple mail clients.
