Upgrade to V4, Again about policy

Dear Bat Users,
for a while i am following the discussion about V4 upgrading policies.
I am using TheBat for many years now, and to my satisfaction i can say. I am sure i couldn't have said that if i was using outlook for instance.
Co'z i am using it for a long time and will keep on doing, i am willing to pay the small amount of money for an update. (but thats my opnion)
Ritlabs should immidately create a upgrade policy and announce it when they first mention about a major update, so the buyer can decide to wait or to accept.
(thats whats lacking, and can be improved, but we are bugging them about update's)
I do understand those who've just bought before the announcement was made.
But look at it this way,
Remember that you bought a computer for 1000,00 and 2 weeks later there is a flyer in your mailbox saying that the price has dropped with 20%, or a xmas discount for 20%..... etc etc.
Same thing with cars, well many many products.
And the major thing is... everybody is free to upgrade or just keep on using the version you have.
And to be honest, TheBat isn't that expensive....
I can tell everyone that i remember the days that upgrade couldn't be made by ritlabs co'z of so many powerfailures in Russia. Even users have raised money for them so they could buy a power-generator. !!
(from that time the prices havent been much of a change for thebat).
I'm also quite sure that RitLabs is not smoking big sigars from our money. And they also have to pay their groceries don't they, and who is working for almost nothing....

A happy Bat user. :)

This message brings up some interesting topics:

1. Exactly WHO is Ritlabs?

2. How many people work for/at Ritlabs?

3. How long has Ritlabs been in business?

Hmmm, yep interesting, but some of your questions are answered at : About RitLabs
and looking at fora its easy to find a minimum amount of Ritlabs people.

All valid points, JV.

Already, I've regrets in the manner I "mishandled" this.  The messages appear written by someone else.  Very frustrating, considering I pursued update policy clarification prior to my purchase .. and, obviously understood that policy differently than what has been announced.

Though I've had some to say about "the money" .. it's not about the money.  I'm an email client aficionado, having purchased/used free every client, of any consequence, available.  I've email dating back to the 90's I'm still packing from one to another.  No, it's about perceived dishonesty.  However, especially considering language barrier/interpretation, an easy enough outcome.  I now can allow that it was a misunderstanding.

I know this .. having never "hungout" at this forum, the v4 update issue causing me to spend much more time here than previously.  And, beyond making a fool of myself, I've discovered here that there are users who've used bat for a very long time, obtaining updates and it hasn't cost them one additional penny.  That's because of the lengthy time between updates as bat has evolved.  If one doesn't know, one incorrectly assumes updates at a much faster pace.  Not so.

No.  People associated with RitLabs are hardly getting rich.  And, though I'm continually struck by the paradox presented using bat and this website, the client is one of the most robust, rock solid, feature rich I've ever used.  Something that comes from hard work, dedication, devotion and technical talent.  This site .. well.

We'll all soon see what v4 looks like.  The chances  excellent I'll avail myself of the announced 30% off license upgrade offer.

(RitLabs, that's about all the ass-sucking I can muster in a single post .. please consider it an apology)

Loud and clear Bubba,
Update policies are many times a problem, i see it also happen on the people of Famatech.
I think Ritlabs are more programmers than the other admin stuff. A very common problem, and i can know co'z i've had the same problem as a programmer.
But I've learned my lesson, when had to install and support my software in several countries around Europe an USA.
But upgrade policies are always a bit of a problem, thats for sure.
Even when v4 has not special things for me extra i still will upgrade, one reason is that there can be extra's in a next one. I think i use only 30% of all capabilities TheBat offers.
The site... yep i know what you mean...
regards.JV
