part001.bin files??, what are these?

What are these files that are spread through out my mail folders?

I suspect these are from attempted recovery process when using the maintenance feature. I have lost messages along my experience with TB but right now all the messages I'm interested in are safely in TB or backed up. Can I delete these? Or how can I inspect them? Will I get duplicates if I try to import them?

as you have all the needed messages, it's OK to delete .bin files.

To inspect open a file in a text editor like UltraEdit.

Or rename a .bin file to MESSAGES.TBB
In theBat, create a new folder. Close theBat, goto your mail folder, locate the physical folder corresponding to the newly created folder in theBat, and paste the above MESSAGES.TBB file replacing the existing one. Then open theBAT and look in that folder.

You can have duplicates if you import messages. TheBat can delete duplicates ('Folder' menu) if they are in the same folder, but not if they are in different folders.

Is the method you described for recovering/viewing the messages in BIN files the same if I use OTFE?

I don't use OTFE but probably yes.
MESSAGES.TBB file may have another extension (.TBE ?) - see how other files are named.
