Problem using GnuPG, TheBat won't let my sign my message

I am currently trying to switch from Thunderbird to TheBat. With Thunderbird I use Enigmail.

I managed to configure TheBat show the "Verify OpenPGP Signature", which correctly identifies my signature.

When I try to sign an email by selecting "sign when completed", TheBat asks me for the password, but then complains that "No Signing S/MIME certificate" for my sender's email address. The address is correct.

When i select "sign entire text" it works. What am I missing here?

With default settings, S/MIME is enable and OpenPGP is disabled.

To configure otherwise, go to Account|Properties|Options|Message editor settings, and check "Enable OpenPGP" and uncheck the "Enable S/MIME". Then open a new editor window, and you will see these settings in the Privacy menu.

Maybe I should have written that: Of course I enabled the OpenPGP support for that account before reporting my problem here...

But did you disable S/MIME, you can have them both enabled.

You are right. Disabling S/MIME solved the problem.
Thanks a lot!

Just a comment: I know that TheBat! is for advanced users, but there should be at least a warning mentioning that both won't work together... Or the error message could explain the reason, why it doesn't work.

Anyways, it works now.

If I can now also solve my other problem (SSL usage), then Ritlabs has a new customer...  :D

Both S/MIME and OpenPGP can work together. You just need to have an OpenPGP key pair and an S/MIME certificate with a privat key.
