"Sender" header cannot be added to the preferences list

Hi,

i want to add the "Sender:" header to the list of selectable header items to be viewed in the message preview pane. The pre-defined list (Options > Preferences > Messages > Message Headers) does already contain the item "X-Sender:" which prepends to display the "Sender" RFC name. Unfortunately, this is not true.

If you receive a message that contains both the "X-Sender:" and "Sender:" headers, and you select the "X-Sender:" header to be showed, it actually shows the "X-Sender:" header but not the "Sender". deleting this pre-defined item is not possible, so there is no way to view the real "Sender:" header :-(

cheers

I think that's been a slight oversight by Ritlabs.

I don't have any messages with both headers, but what happens when you add a new header 'Real X-Sender' with 'X-Sender' as RFC name?

Hi Roelof,

the thing is that I don't need the RFC name "X-Sender", but only the real "Sender" header instead. This header plays an important rule in Protecting Email Sender Identity systems such as DomainKeys - see

http://antispam.yahoo.com/domainkeys

MUA developers should begin to take care of these attempts to add some level of security into the nowadays biggest internet problem - abuse of email.

So I think if Ritlabs is offering the "X-Sender:" item in its predefined header list, this should apply on "X-Sender" RFC names only. In addition, it should be possible to add the "Sender:" item corresponding to the real "Sender" RFC name. Currently, this is mixed up - the item is called "X-Sender:" but pretends to correspond to the the "Sender" RFC name. In fact, it shows the "X-Sender" RFC name if it is present, but not the "Sender" RFC name if it is also present.
