No mails today, installed not working new version

Today I payed for the first time in my life for a legal copy of the Bat. Nice, but not! Now I can not receive any emails as every account closes with the error 'failed to connect'. Switching back to my old illegal copy is better as that one still works.

Can I get my money back  :(

John

PS Just moved back to version 3.99.29 and now my license key of v4 is valid for that version. And most of all: it works again, I can send and receive emails again.

Why didn't you try the software before? There is a 30 days free period.

Anyway I am in the same case than you: v4 doesn't connect (I use proxies, and you?) so I switched to the last 3.xx one. Before probably moving to something else.

yes, current registration codes are working in both 3.x and 4.x.

What account log directly displays? If no account can access mailserver, do not You have thebat.exe of new version incorrectly blocked by firewall?

That's a good point.
Every time I upgrade I have to allow it though Zone Alarm again. If I should inadvertently dismiss the message - it won't connect to anything until I manually change thebat's access priveliges.

Version 4 works well. Why not troubleshoot a bit rather than quit using it especially when there is a strong indication that it may be an easy correctable issue with your setup?

I have uninstalled my illegal copy first, cleaned out the registry, installed v4 and it did not work at that time. I assumed it was becourse I was using an illegal copy. So I wanted to pay for this new one.

I don't use a proxy. My firewall kindly asks every time a new exe is installed if I want to permit access and so I did for the new Bat! exe.
It just doesnt connect and shows in the logfile a nice message that it could not connect, as if I did not know that.

It realy doesnt matter what the course is, this new version sucks. Why is it it that new versions of any software are almost allways bad copies of their original. Typicaly Bill MS Gates practices.

sorry, I just do not beleive this is The Bat!s problem, nobody reported impossible connecting to server and I do not beleive, only You have this problem.

Please reveal POP3 mailserver hostname, so we can check it from us.

Do not You have active more firewalls?

Marek, the fact that I seem to be the only one reporting this problem does not mean by fact that it is my fault or my system problem. Others may have worked for days to solve it without taking the effort to report it.
I have installed the new version twice and reinstalled the old version twice. The new version does not connect and the old one does, with the Sygate firewall that I use. Switching off the firewall did not help either though. There is nothing wrong with the 7 different POP configurations I use as they have worked with the Bat for some years now. It just should not take rocketscience to install a new version.

I did not told it is Your fault, but trust me, users are reporting small problem like changed sorting of messages, so I do not think, they will not report impossible connecting to server.

what OS do You use?

can You try to delete a rule in Sygate, so You will be asked again for allowing thebat.exe?

I have 4 POP accounts that have moved through versions of The Bat - for years all the way back from v2 to v4, and I have never had problems with connecting. There is clearly nothing obvious wrong with new v4, and it certainly does not "suck".

I am sure someone here can help resolve your issue, but it may make sense to be a bit more polite and appreciative of the assistance. Your unfriendly attitude does not encourage willingness....

I too am having trouble. The details can be found in this post:
