0.38 install erased all mailboxes, Whoops!

Says it is an unregistered copy, asks where to put mailboxes. Hard drive search finds no *.tbb files. Any other suffix I should look for? All mail is backed up (although account info and filters are not), but what could have happened here?

There's no reason whatsoever that updating the regular release would delete anything from your message base.
