I was seriously considering moving from Pocomail to TB but after having spent a lot of time testing around the migration of my address books and some test folders with various sorts of emails (e.g. with and without attachments, tagged, marked (color), read and unread etc.) I came to the conclusion that that's merely infeasible.
1) Migrating an address book should be straight forward with the LDIF file format since Pocomail proposes this format as export and TB as import but not at all: single addresses may be migrated correctly but not groups! I would have to migrate all addresses as single ones and build all my groups again!
Any other format I tried (.csv or .txt) did not work better.
2) Migrating the mailboxes / messages is only possible trough the Unix .mbx format. Even wit the Mailbox Import Wizard by trying to go via Netscape or Eudora I could not reach anything (though both the apps propose these formats). Using the Unix .mbx files results in a loss of all the attached files (really great!) as well as almost all the tags and marks. In addition every message is considered as unread after import. Thus the only thing which can be correctly migrated would be the message body and the important/normal tags.
3) Finally I have been tweaking / training my SPAM Bayesian filters on Pocomail for years now resulting in 96% accuracy and <1% false positives for 18634 messages. I cannot imagin having to start all over again and I don't think it may be possible to migrate the filter database (or at least I haven't found any information about this topic).
So my question to RitLabs (since one cannot get in tough with them even by email without having already bought their sofware... really great support...) or to any other former Pocomail user who dared to make the step to migrate thousands of messages and many addresses to TB: Would this somehow be possible without loosing all I described above??
It's really a pitty that the people at RitLabs do not invest more time for such migrations since they surely would gain a lot of new customer, bored and frustrated by Pocomail or any other email client software... For my part I think I will have to stay with PocoMail though I have many reasons to dislike it.
