Error Installing - cannot find ikey.id, Install not creating files needed in The Bat! Pwd directory

I had to restore my system and when I try to reinstall The Bat!, it keeps giving me an error and says that it is unable to find the ikey.id in The Bat! Pwd folder. For some reason, it will not create any of the files upon install. If I copy over the files it should have created from a different computer and point it to that folder, I still receive the error message, but when I hit cancel, it takes the password and works. However, each time it starts, it asks for the information again. I've even tried moving the folder out of the AppData location, thinking that might be the problem, but it makes no difference.  I've tried 2 different times. What can I do to resolve this problem?

do You have ikey.id in a new folder and in same path?

When I do an install, everything installs correctly, but when I get to the setup screen, I receive the following error:

Access violation at address 00A4EFBE in module "thebat.exe". Read of address FFFFFFFF.

If I click cancel, it says:

Cannot open file "C:\Users\Nght\AppData\Roaming\The Bat! Pwd\ikey.id" The system cannot find the file specified.

When I go to this folder, there are no files, so that explains why it can't find the files, but I'm not sure why. I have run as administrator and I have permissions, so that's not the problem.

TB most likely thinks it should claim an old message base, that's the only reason I can think of for TB to try to to find an ikey.id file.
Close TB and delete from the registry this tree:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!
Next run TB again.

I tried deleting the registry key as you suggested, but still received the same error. There shouldn't be anything for it to claim, it is a fresh install on a newly formatted machine.

What do you mean with 'tried'?
Did you manage to delete it or not?

The procedure is as follows:
Shut down TB
Run Regedit
Delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!
Shut down Regedit
Rename the folder "C:\Users\Nght\AppData\Roaming\The Bat! Pwd" to "C:\Users\Nght\AppData\Roaming\The Bat! Pwd.old"
Run TB

What TB version are you using?
