Error messages at startup

Hello,

Since I installed The Bat V3, I often have some error messages while launching it:

- A call to an OS function failed (very often)

- Access violation at address 00000002. Read of Address  FFFFF (not very often)

- And from time to time I also have something like "error 87", if I remember well.

The solution is to restart The Bat again and again...

Any idea? More frequently I also have some crashes while closing. I use the Bat under Win98.

Thanks

Rick

I had again after launching The Bat the third error message I indicated in my previous post. The exact message is:

"System Error. Code:87. The parameter is incorrect".

It's the same error message that you can see at https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=2870

But I don't have it while closing but only at start up.

Well.... 8)

To solve my problem, I tried to install again The Bat exe. I downloaded from your site the last professional version (which I already have) and tried to install it again.

But the problem is that I have this error message at the beginning of the install process:

Error 1316. A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file:
C:\Windows\Desktop\thebat_professional[1].msi

Note that even if I have this error message I can continue to install but I am not sure of the result...

Please help me because I really don't know how to solve my crash problems at atart up (see my previous messages).

This error occurs because the .msi desn't have its original name, remove the [1] part from the name.

No. The file name I downloaded is "thebat_professional" and I never renamed it. But when I launch it, the error message refers to thebat_professional[1].msi

I don't know why. I checked the properties of the file downloaded and I can see that the DOS name is THEBAT1~1.MSI

Perhaps it's related. Anyway, what I would like to solve is not that but the different error messages I have after launching The Bat.

Thanks

You have downloaded the installer file for the second time.

You are downloading to your desktop. The original download is still there, on your desktop. Without you telling it to, the download process renames the new version of the downloaded installer with [1] at the end.

I recommend that you delete both versions of the installer and download once again to be sure there is no confusion and that the system is clean.

I suppressed all the *.MSI file which are on my PC and I always have this error message.

Anyway, as I said, what I would like to solve is the different error messages I have after launching The Bat.

thanks

There is no current resolution to this error 87 issue because it is not reproducible at RITlabs, as the error report you discovered on the BugTraq confirms.

Quote

- A call to an OS function failed (very often)

Doing what? Attempting to do what? This is not a common error. It has been suggested that you reinstall because something sounds very wrong with your installation.

Some of this could be plugin related - BayesIt could be playing up. Some of it could be virus or trojan related. It could be related to an installation error. There are no simple answers for you because these reports match nothing reported elsewhere. Even the error report on the BT you found doesn't match because that only happens to one user at shutdown.

I will remove this thread in a couple of days having referred the issue to the support ticket system unless you can find a solution yourself and post it back here.
