Adress book problem, it does not work...

Hello.

I am having problems with the address book module.
I changed Windows from XP to 7 HP and The Bat! from 4.1.7 to 4.2.23.

The Bat! did not restore the address book from the previously made backup, I tried to copy/paste all address book files to the suitable The Bat! folder (yes, I still have XP installed on the other partition). I can't add new contacts in the address book - buttons don't work, I can't import LDIF file (or any other).

The Bat! itself works great, sends and receives mail.
I tried to reinstall The Bat! and then update to 4.2.36 available on the web site but nothing helps.

What else can I do to make it work properly?

I've had those troubles too. In my case they were caused by the fact that TB doesn't backup address books with none default names (or doesn't do it very well.)
So I solved the problem by renaming my address book to TheBat.ABD, telling TB that it should use that new file, delete the old file from TB's address book config and backing up and restoring that new config.

In case your address book file has a non default name, you could copy the .abd file to the mail directory of your new system and opening that new address book:
Tools -> Address Book -> File -> Open address book -> the default open a file window appears.

Well...
All file names were default but I was kind of hoping that TB would recognize/load the Address Book itself after I copied files and restarted.

This method actually worked, silly me for not trying it before posting...

But dammit I am sure I checked the Address Book to be included in the backup...
Is it a bug in TB?
In earlier versions it worked fine.

It's possible that was a bug. I blamed it on the non default name for my address book, because I thought that was what solved it. But it's possible that my previous backups were made by older versions of TB.
Now that I think about it, it used to work with alternative names for the address book, because in the past I used to backup and restore the address book in order to compress it. (Deleting address book entries merely marks them as deleted, they're kept in the address book. The backup and restore process removes them from the file.)
So it's possible that there was a bug introduced somewhere and that I missed the announcement of the bug fix.

If that was a bug I hope they've fixed it.

Thanks for you help and time!
