Need help - transfering messages to new computer, Help transfering TheBat files (not bkup) to new computer

Having a challenge here... am somewhat, but not too technically savvy...

My computer died, had files backed up to Mozy.com, have retrieved the actual files from TheBat! directory -- including user accounts/folders/etc. everything -- but no "backup" file I can point The Bat to. I think I had a 3.xx version running... also need to upgrade so I can use on 64 bit Window 7 home premium...

I've downloaded a the latest v3 release (and intend to upgrade), but I can't seem to get this version to see/recognize/open my older file folders. Advice appreciated!

Ok - has gone from bad to worse...

I figured out, in theory, to link each account to a folder with the email messages in them, however I am now having new trouble, which I think may have to do with the Windows 7 x 64....

Even though I have uninstalled and reinstalled TB! (V3.99) several times, there seems to be some remnant of it in my system - it won't boot and instead gives me these three errors:

Cannot access c;\program files (x84)\the bat
Cannot access directory c:\program files (x84)\thebat!\myfiles
Failed to create working directoryc:\program files (x84)\thebat!\myfiles

Can anyone help with tips on how I can truly uninstall all remnants -- something must be remaining in the system causing it to seek myfiles at boot even after I've uninstalled and reinstalled.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Windows 7 does not allow users to write to the c:\program files directory.

Make a new directory similar to:
c:\apps\the bat!

Should allow you to copy the program there and update the registry without too much trouble.

Store the mail in your document folder best choice or as a secondary idea.
c:\apps\The bat!\mailstore

I run (a later version of) The Bat! on Windows 7 x64 with no problems.  By default it will store data (emails etc) in your folder under Users.  If you are actually specifying the paths shown when you install The Bat! then you will have an issue not least because there is a typo - it should be Program Files (x86) not x84.  I suggest you uninstall The Bat!, use a registry cleaner (two free ones are Piriform's Ccleaner and Glary Utilities) to remove any orphaned registry entries, copy your backup of The Bat! data files to where ever you want to keep them, re-install The Bat! accepting the installation defaults (where to store the program files) and then on setup select the Mail Directory to use the folder where you restored The Bat! data.

Thanks very much!! Seems to be working now.
