Cannot delete messages after move to new computer, v4.0.38 on XP to v4.2.44 on Win7 didn't work

I recently got a new laptop with Win 7 Pro 64-bit installed.  I have been using TheBat 4.0.38 for a couple years.  I installed the 4.2.44 release on the new laptop and did a backup/restore to move my accounts to the new laptop.

My MAIL folder is in a new directory C\ProgramDataFiles\TheBat\MAIL because Win7 does not seem to like TheBat creating the MAIL folder under the program folder.  I then restored the TBK and everything seemed good until I checked mail.  I noticed that about a third of my filters no longer work, but then found a bigger bug.

I cannot delete messages using either the Delete button or using the Delete option from the Right click menu.  Is there some other setting that my be a problem?

This is on a new machine with very little software.  The onl thing that I can think of that my be interfering is I have COMODO Firewall and Avast AntiVirus installed it there is a know incompatability with them.

Cheers, Paul Ewing

IMO, the conventional backup/restore via The Bat! interface is not fail-proof - a better and easier method is to perform a manual copy-paste of the following mail folder:-

C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\The Bat! Pwd

C\ProgramDataFiles\TheBat\MAIL is not the mail folder - check the one mentioned above.

Never checked, but since you're using (x64-bit) I guess your installation folder should be as follows:-

C:\Program Files (x86)\The Bat!

Try backing up the way outlined above and your issue should be resolved.

I've got COMODO running alongside - no incompatibilities, as yet (and don't consider Avast, is to be blamed, either.)

Thanks Battie.  I should have verified the MAIL directory after doing the Backup Restore.  It looks like it dropped about 200 files in the process.  I did a straight copy of the directory and it is working now after a brief complaint about the indexes being from an old version.  I didn't have this much trouble several years ago when I moved from 1.6 to 4.0.  Oh well good old 1.6 seemed to work much faster too.  Not sure while I upgraded, but I am sure it woldn't run too well under Win7.  That is assuming I don't get totally frustrated and reformat and install XP.

You're welcome, Paul.

Good to see you've got yourself on top of your problem - don't worry about your OS (V5 has been observed to play buggy on XP - not Windows Se7en.)
