The Bat for Android!, Dream or Reality?

With increasing use of Android mobiles and honeycomb tablets, will Ritlab work on The Bat for these platform?

I doubt Ritlabs will do an Android version.  In any case, there are a number of good alternatives.  I'm currently using K9 Mail, which works better than the included mail client and does pretty much everything I want.  Of course, this is true for me, but everyone has different needs.  I recommend you try it first.

Currently I m using Kaitenmail and I m very satisfied with it ( I have Asus Transformer tablet). However, for Windows I use The Bat and love it also. My point is Android and open source OS is getting very popular nowadays and Ritlab can be a player of future if they develop Android version. Yes, like you, I doubt they do it as they never did it for Mac.
Understanding Ritlabs policy for OS other than Windows is very difficult as it seems they do not develop any different OS versions even if the demand is big.  :!:

I think the problem is, even if the demand is big, how many people will pay for it?  And how much are they willing to pay?  On Windows, people are mostly used to paying for their software.  But on Android, a lot of users are used to getting their software for free.  For these users, how much would they pay for a good email client?  $1?  $2?  $5?  And how much would Ritlabs need to charge to actually make this work?

hi there.

it is now 2025 and this threads last entry is from 2011 and that is 14 years ago. i myself would also love to have a version of the bat! or the bat! voyager on my mobile phone with an android based operating system, as i use multiple mail accounts and the alternatives are not really the greatest and besides i think the bat! and the bat! voyager are the greatest there is in mail programmes.

so, there is still a demand for an android based version in 2025.

i just wanted to make that clear and secretly hope that someday they will make a version for android mobile devices.

i would not hesitate buying a version for android as well as my windows version because it is such a good piece of software. sure, it has its flaws but in general i am very happy with it.

kind regards

I want to give my complete support for an Android version.

I really, really like The Bat! and I do not want to be forced to use something else.

But with the phones now far more important for non-business communication than the PC, my wife and I are having real trouble trying to keep our email, calendar ,and contacts in order..

* We handle the email by sending BCC copies to ourselves when sending an email from the phone.  That works, but we don't have on our phones the emails that we have sent from the PC, and the deletion and folder organisation problems are totally insoluble.  I have managed to sort out sync on our two PCs, which of course use different mailboxes.

* We have adopted Tutanota calendar, waiting for a decent synced solution that respects privacy, but its interface on the phone is really annoying (and the email interface even on the PC is dreadful).

* We are still using the old Windows Contacts on my PC, with its excellent UI on Windows, and every now and again sending contacts that we have entered on our phones back to the PC — it is driving us mad.

Syncing PC and phone is not 'the future', it is with us now, and has been for 20 years.  I beg you, Ritlabs, to give us The Bat! versions of email, calendar, and contacts on Android.  I really fear that your business with personal users will collapse if you do not.  Even Thunderbird thinks that they can do it!

Of course I will pay for it (as long as the cost is reasonable),

Me to! (actually BlackBerry app for mail).
