Lost The Bat!, the program disappeared.

:!: I just lost TheBat V1.4? It disappeared from the control panel too. I see all of the folders in explorer, but thebat.exe doesn't work....it just hangs. I was getting the splash screen, but now...nothing. I tried re-installing the program, but that didn't work.

If I upgrade to V.5, will it accept my old folders and template settings? I have thousands of emails in some of them.

Thanks for any help you can give me.  :(

First thing I'd try would be to install v1.62, that's the latest v1 version and it's still available here: http://www.ritlabs.com/en/products/thebat/archive_versions/
But before you do anything you'd better make a copy of your mail directory.
Whatever newer versions of TB will to your mail directory, as long as you've got a copy nothing is lost.
Newer versions of TB should be able to convert the message base to the current formats, but they probably need to see that TB is installed otherwise they won't understand thast they need to convert an old config.

:D It's working! I can't thank you enough for the help. What a relief it is. I'll work on getting my thousands of old e-mail messages deleted or changed to newly named files and then upgrade to the latest version. Do I install that right over 1.62?

Yep, simply install the latest version on top of 1.62, but don't forget to create a backup of your mail directory before upgrading. A lot has been changed between v1 and v5 and though the conversion engines did function properly, it is possible that something has gone awry with the upgrades. After all the conversion stuff is something that's hardly tested as the beta users usually switch from more recent versions.
