Talk about being frustrated.. ! ok, and no, it's not because my gf is sick.. lol..

This is about using Exchange.

and at least so far, it's proven impossible.  i've done the stuff support says, including this ridiculous thing about setting up a file in windows mail that doesn't work.

i've proven exchange can work on mail clients as em client has it as a native option and i was online there in 2 minutes, but after 2 weeks of emailing support with the same no-replies, i decided it's time to ask.

em client is one of the hot new flavors but it's really bad in so many ways, stuff they can't do, TB has done forever.  The biggest is not having a real spam filter.. what modern mail client doesn't have a real spam filter?

Anyway, i need exchange for my work, the company uses it, but because of my other various emails i needed one place to get mail.. using owa is ok but if i don't check it, what good is it?

So, i don't know why setting up a mail file in win doesn't work, might be their version of exchange..

so, who's out there who can possibly give me a clue how to do this, so i can get rid of em client?  

also, does TB support gmail, yahoo etc? never tried. .again, em client can do those as well easily, but i'd rather have it all in tb, which is the mail i know and love..

any help will be greatly appreciated..!

Can't help with the Exchange issue but The Bad DOES handle Gmail, GMX and Yahoo if you have a paid account that allows Pop access

Being worked on is a good start, but exchange has only been around for a while now and they're just getting around to it? Any idea when?

The key is when will it be ready?  There are an amazingly few options other than OWA et, and then EM does it, but i tried to like it and i simply can't..EM is like win8, it's ok, but i just can't get to like it.  And the lack of a valid spam filter stinks.

Also tried TBird, but it's so buggy, and apparently Moz is terminating support for it, so that makes it essentially dead.

So, not sure what other clients are out there that are worth considering that does EXchange natively.

Guess i'll wait and see how it goes.  Even though TB doesnt get the love of the people who review stuff, it's certainly one of the best mail programs most have never heard of.! :)

I known this e-mail client from the days it was born, and that is a lot of years.

Despite the fact I do appreciate they focus on stability of the software, there are 4 questions never solved so far:

1) to have a stable (extended) MAPI handling, last TBMapi32.dll not only is 32 bit but a 2013 version and UNSTABLE.
   Worse, despite many request you can not find a decent article how to install it properly on modern windows OS.
2) to have automatic e-mail configuration through the DNS records (SRV records)
3) to have different storage engines (SQL, XML, noSQL,...) so You can get rid of the .TBB, .TBN
   and use professional storage mechanisms for archiving, maintenance, handling, centralization and backup of data.
4) the lack of a vCalendar/Notes/Task Exchange system as You find in Outlook or emClient

I did recommend a lot to my customers the Bat and they did buy it. Right now, I do not recommend it anymore due to the lack of those features.

I think the bat starts too loose it's wings.

I do not want to be rude but someone does ask about MAPI and extendend MAPI
used in many corporated environments.

If someone asks the plumber, there is no hot water anymore in the house, You do answer like:
'But there is cold water and you can heat it up in the coocker !'....yeah

The question is not to be able, how to retrieve e-mail in another protocol such as POP,
that is totally different as (ex)MAPI to handle mail.

I did notice myself, when You do use IMAP on an exchange account,
it does not work properly, but if you switch to a client using MAPI, all works fine.

Needless to say there are 100 extended functions in MAPI v1.0 + and this is a totally
different protocol as POP or IMAP to handle mail.

Almost a decade there was no attention to have a stable MAPI handling.
