What version of The Bat! to choose v7.0 or v6.8.8?, a 64-bit or 32-bit?

Good Day All,
I am a user of The Bat! for several years, which I'm satisfied.
Until now I used version v6.0.10 I would change on the latest version v7.0.
I have some questions and looking for answers to the following .. please help.

1. What version of The Bat! to choose v7.0 or v6.8.8?, a 64-bit or 32-bit?
{I'm using Windows 8.1 64-bit operating system, processor x64}

2. What is the safest method to move data from the old version v6.0.10 to the latest version v7.0?

3. How to perform 'Restore' and 'Synchronise' from the new version of The Bat! v7.0?

4. Is the version of The Bat! v7.0 can open the data stored in the old version v6.0.10?
and vice versa ..whether the old version will be able to perform the 'Restore' of version v7.0?

Looking forward to your kind reply ..Thank you!
Rgds KP

Use the 64 bit as it has been stable
Version 7 has introduced bug fixes and features
The Bats! backup restore feature works for a lot of people. I haven't had good luck restoring it. If you shut your copy of the bat down and back up the ENTIRE mail directory, you will have everything except your license key. If it is in an email, you are good to go

Uninstall the bat and do a fresh install of the 64 bit version. Copy the backup of your mail folder to wherever you want it (default is in APPDATA
Run the bat and it will ask some questions and one will be to use the accounts it found. At that point you should be good to go

I don't know if there were in internal data changes from 6.0 to 6.8.8 but I went from v6.8.8 to 7 by just uninstalling TheBat! Pro and installing v7 Home without any problems. I didn't have to do any backup or restore (but I did do a back up using both TB backup utility and my backup program, just in case).

I found an irritating to me problem with v7 though. When exiting v7 the compression dialog displays but when it closes the whole remaining screen minimized slightly and then clears. It doesn't seem to affect anything significant.

I decided to go back to v6.8.8 Pro to be sure it was something new to v7 and so uninstalled v7 Home and reinstalled v6.6.8 Pro. Surprisingly there are no issues I've found doing that. A statement in the v7 install seemed to indicate to me that once going to v7 I could not use return to v6.8.8 but that hasn't been the case. Perhaps it was talking about using old backups.

I used 64bit in both cases since I don't use any 32bit plugins and I run Windows 7 64bit.

I am using v 7 (64 bit) the Bat.  I love the bat however I do not like the auto-view screen. When I open an e-mail I just want that screen open.  Too much clutter for me.

Can anyone tell me how to eliminate this from opening.  I've had to put up with this for several weeks and I've read my self silly and I can't find the OFF switch.

Ozarkin

ps: I will appreciate any help at all.

Kay, I'm not sure I understand about the auto-view screen. Can you explain more?

My setting is with accounts, etc on left column and then message list at top of right and message under message list. I read messages by clicking on message list header and reading below.  How does yours work?

Thats one thing about the bat I am NOT liking...........

When I open an email, I see a tree view of all my emails right above the email......   http://i.imgur.com/0crLQLt.png

So it kind of scrunches down the email, and if I drag the email window UPWARDS to cover the tree view of emails, when I open another email, it defaults back to the way it was. ( as you see in the picture )

Thanks,
Christopher

Christopher, try this.

With email displayed, click on View -> Show message list ->

You can change where the message list displays or hide it.

Does that fix it?

Oooh yes!!!

Thank you!

Your post confuses me. The answer is right there in your post: View>Show Message List.
