smtp envelope address?

Hello,
I an in day 2 of my 3- day free trial of The Bat!, and am real impressed.  :D

My ISP's smtp server requires that I use as my email address only the address assigned to me by my ISP - call it lloyd@racsa.co.cr.  This smtp server also requires "authentication," using my dialup account username and password.

I have a website www.costa-rica-natural.com.  I would like to use the email accounts associated with my domain: for example, info@costa-rica-natural.com.

With Outlook Express, I had to designate lloyd@racsa.co.cr as my email address, and use the desired info@costa-rica-natural.com as "reply-to" address.  This was not entirely satisfactory, as my email would still appear to come from lloyd@racsa.co.cr.  :(

I tried Pegasus Mail for a few days (until it crashed on my XP machine 5 times), and it would allow me to use info@costa-rica-natural.com as email address, so long as I set something called the "smtp envelope address" to lloyd@racsa.co.cr.

Is this possible to do with TB!?  If not, I would lke to request this feature (ability to set smtp envelope).

Best regards,
Lloyd

Currently it's not possible to set an smtp envelope.

However, you could use your own mail server, that would pass the restriction set by your ISP. A free server like Mercury would do for this purpose.

This would also enable you to play around a bit more with e-mail addresses under your own domain.

When you're really set for this smtp-envelope thing, you'd better request it via the proper ways, as this is not the right place for feature requests. Here's a canned response:

You can insert wishes in the wish list, by logging in to:
https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/main_page.php
Choose 'The Bat! wishes' and add a new item.
First check whether someone has made the same wish, then you can
support that wish.
Wishes that are supported by more users are more likely to be granted
than wishes by one. And the system isn't smart enough to understand
that wishes might be the same.
And add just one wish per entry. Makes everything easier, both for
other users who want to add support and for the developers.

Hello Roelof,

Thanks very much for the tip.  I will look into the mail server idea.

I noticed the proper place for suggestions soon after sending my post... thanks.

This is my second day using The Bat! and I keep thinking "WOW! what a program!"  It is also great to know this forum exists! :D
