After Windows 7 update, TheBat does not work

Hello,

I am using 6.7.36 (32 bits) "pro" (Aladdin token) on a Win7/64 box. Old version but all was working fine until I updated Windows today. After the reboot, TheBat does not start: I am asked the token PIN code, then the splashscreen, TheBat opens... and immediately closes. It does not appear in the task manager, it IS closed.

I uninstalled completely and did a fresh install without mail account. Same thing.

I downloaded the last 8 TheBat release in 64 bits, for a fresh new install: Same thing.

So finally I uninstalled the Windows updates using the windows "restore point", reinstalled TheBat 6.7.36 (as I am using it with a license), and here all is working fine.

So it seems that after Windows update some conflict with TheBat appears...

Did you try the /NOLOGO option? That one trick has resolved a number of seemingly different issues. I'm running win 7 pro/64-bit with no problems.

No, I didn't as I saw this trick AFTER I uninstalled the Windows updates...

With this option, can you tell that it does work normally with the *last* Win7/64 updates as listed above? I could try of course but it's a mess to restore after in case it does not work (have to completely uninstall the antivirus etc :)

Well, no one can make promises about MS updates, but of the three you show, my PC has the second and third. The first one must not have applied to my PC, but a check for updates shows no outstanding updates.  I'm surprised that TB! hasn't just removed the splash screen since it appears to cause so many problems and confuses so many users. Good luck.

The Bat! v8.2.8 went out on 19 February 2018 after you have posted this message, it fixes the issue that you have described. The /NOLOGO is not needed, it is not a remedy.

This is totally WRONG! I uninstalled 7x release, updated Windows, installed the new 8.2.8 from your website, and same sh*t: Thebat immediately closes after launching! So now I have to rollback Windows once more to get my TB files readable and transfer them to a WORKING mail software! TB is really a piece of sh*t, never such problems happened on any software in 40 years I am using computers.

Voila, got rid of this sh*tty software after using it for 15 years. Good  that I paid finally only one license at first. Very poor support, with  NO reply at all when bugs!
I am now working with a few instances of  Thunderbird, FREE and with great forum where EVEN the developers reply!  Uncredible hey, thebat team?!

One of the reasons why The Bat! may immediately exit is a third-party plugin attached to The Bat! that prevents The Bat! from running. Just removing the files AVConfig.INI and TBPlugin.INI (backup them before removing) may help, because these files keep configuration data of the plugins. If you are using On-The-Fly Encryption, then the file extensions of these files would be .ENI, not .INI.

Before running The Bat!, make sure that in the Task Manager (Details Tab) no thebat32.exe or thebat64.exe process is running. If it is still running, first click the "End Task" button and then run The Bat! again.

If removing the plugins still doesn't help, then run The Bat! with the /STARTUP_TIMING_LOG command line option. It will create a log file of how did The Bat! start, the file name will be ex_log.txt in the %APPDATA%\The Bat!\ and %APPDATA% folder (two separate file). These files may give a hint where The Bat! hangs at startup.
