Exporting msgs for other mail prg

Hi to all,

how can i export mail account to be ready for other mail programm such as Outlook (express) or eudora?

Is it possible, or if it is not, when it will be?
In bussiness i have to use M$Outlook and at home i use Bat, so it would be nice if i can transfer all my mails from one to another programm

Thanks in advance

In TB's menu:
Tools -> Export messages -> pick your format
Actually there's no difference between .eml and .msg, only the extension. Outlook Express understands the .eml extension (you can drag and drop those files from the windows explorer to a folder in Outlook Express)

I'm led to believe that Eudora (like a lot of mail clients) supports import from Unix messagebase.

With MS Outlook you need to do a workaround. MS Outlook uses a proprietary mail format. TB can't export nor import it, but as both programs can an inport an export with Outlook Express, you've found your interface.

I don't know abput eudora, but problem is that i have to manually open few accounts and then import/drag&drop msgs...

i could be a long process, so i wonder is there any chance that TheBat enable exporting full account setings into one file or files...

thanks in advance

TB won't do that for you.

However there's a program called "Mailbag assistant" that's very good in importing and exporting messages from lots of clients. (Or so I've heard, no hands on experience.)
You could try whether that does what you want.

Google for it, so you can try it.

i tried MailBag ass, nut no help...
it can export in UNIX format (as Bat can) and in eml format...
i believe that i have to export all mails to eml format, and drag&drop in new outlook and export as MS outlook format :-)

and i don't like that idea:-)

Thank anyway

I don't know about your connectivity, but the only other way I can think of expoting your messages is to redirect them to one of your own addresses.

What's the amount of folders and messages anyway that we're discussing?

hm, over 5000 mails, with attachments, @ 4 accounts (including filters)...
i gave up, i decide that ill use bat for life:-) 50 Ђ to go....

that's the only way to save all msgs, without drag&dropping mails ot OE and then exporting them to other format..

just one tip: i believe that this issue should be solved in next version. i know that developers don't like an ide that their users can transfer all acc settings in few mins to some other program (such as Firebird or Mozilla). the only reason can be price: 40 (or so) Ђ vs 0,00 Ђ:-)

I have used script to import my messages from TheBat! to MS Outlook 2003, it took a lot of time but less than via OE. Script name TBExport, its on Russian.
But major problem with TheBat! export: it changes date of e-mail message for current! But I neet to keep original dates of my e-mail messages!

TheBat! team: any suggestions ???

Best regards
Leo

You must be mistaken, TB's export function doesn't alter the exported messages' Date: header.

Yes, I think this script does it :)
Then I have to export all my messages to .EML and drag-and-drop them to OE, then import from Outlook. Nice way to spend my weekend but I have no choice - I have to use Outlook in the office ... Please do proper export to Outlook in the next release :)

As long tiem TB user, I am sad to say this, but I guess the answer is: do not use TB, coz you won't be able to migrate... And please do not tell me that importing message by message one by one is really even called a migration.

I just discovered this too. I'm getting so fed up with the lack of support or bugfixes since the introduction of V3 last October that I'm now seriously looking for an alternative to TB. I just discovered that it's effectively not possible to export my message base to transfer it.

Or is there a way? We're talking about nearly 20,000 (twenty thousand) messages in seven accounts, each with up to 50 subfolders.
