The Bat does not work with the new PGP Desktop v9, PGP Plugin no longer works.

I am using PGP Desktop Pro v9.0.1 and it does not work with TheBat v3.5.26. I tried moving all pgp dlls on my system to the PATH folder, but that did not make it work. Is there a plug-in or dll you have that will make the new PGP work with the new Bat?

Thanks

PGP9 uses an xml file to store its settings, where older versions used a .txt file. The file is stored at
\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\PGP Corporation\PGP\PGPprefs.txt

Create the file with these lines. (adjust to the path to your system)

PublicKeyringFile=K:\Documents\PGP\pubring.pkr
PrivateKeyringFile=K:\Documents\PGP\secring.skr
Pubring=K:\Documents\PGP\pubring.pkr
Secring=K:\Documents\PGP\secring.skr

And PGP should work just fine

Hi, I did what you said and it worked partially. I can now decrypt messages in The Bat, but I can no longer encrypt using PGP and PGP/Mime. Also, I cannot access the Key Manager via The Bat anymore. Are there more lines I can add that will allow that?

Thanks

That you can't access the key manager is because PGP9 has no separate key manager anymore, that you can't encrypt is also due to changed functionality in PGP9.

The problems have already been discussed on the tbbeta list, so I suppose it's a matter of time before TB supports PGP9 fully. After all, PGP9 has only been released last month.

I hope so. PGP 9 was a major improvement over version 8, I would like to be able to use it a great e-mail program like The Bat.

I haven't checked out PGP 9 yet but does it still have PGP tray? You can encrypt/decrypt current window, you don't really need to have the buttons in The Bat or any email client. At the very least, it should be a work-around until you can do it via the Bat's GUI.

workaround it is... but no substitution for mail client support, because you always have to select the mail address manually when using the clipboard... this may be a feasisble way when you use encryption only once a month or so but not for everyday use

In what ways is PGP 9 better than version 8?

Using  Roelof Otten 's  workaround didnt fix my problem using pgp 9.0.6

The bat will continiue to be PGP friendly? :)

It would be nice if thebat will support pgp v9 ...

Are there any news about this problem?

This caused me to switch to GPG and I've never looked back at PGP. I don't know what the current status is for TB and PGP 9.
