Gmail emails going to trash periodically, One account's emails go to trash

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but hopefully someone can provide an answer or a hint.

Recently, I noticed on one of my Gmail accounts that messages were missing, and I eventually found them in Trash. I checked for articles about this, and almost all of them say to disable or clear filters on the account. There are no filters, however, or forwarding or any of the usual causes. And just now, while I was viewing the account in The Bat, I saw dozens of messages disappear from my Inbox, then appear in Trash.

Can anyone help? It doesn't seem like it's a problem in Gmail, because this account is set up exactly the same as another one (which has no problems). Is there anything in The Bat that might cause messages to automatically move to another folder? I have one filter set, to play a sound when there's a new unread message in the Inbox, but it doesn't do anything else.

Thanks in advance for any help!

What about filters on gmail side? Did you check them?

George, yes, I checked and there are no filters. No forwarding rules. The settings for the problem account are identical to an account that doesn't have the problem.

Is this a native Gmail account or one that fetches mail from another domain?
Could a spamfilter be sending these messages to trash? Either server side or an old forgotten plugin in The Bat? (Opt | Pref | Plug-ins)
Are you sure that you are the only person who has access to this account?
Have you checked this account's log file for hints? (and turned on 'verbose logging'?)
Do the trashed messages have anything in common?

Just some ideas..

Thanks, Daniel. It's a native Gmail account, doesn't fetch mail from other domains, and I have no plugins in The Bat. I'm the only person with access, although I access it through The Bat and the Gmail client on my phone.

The problem seems to have gone away now. I didn't change anything other than going into Gmail settings. Just to be safe, I then deleted my The Bat account for this and recreated it from scratch. I'm crossing my fingers that it's now fixed, even though I don't know why.

I have made it a habit to check my gmail trash folder every now and then. Especially emails that have been sent as group emails seem to regularly end up there. From what I heard, it's a gmail behaviour - if it encounters several emails from the same address, it sometimes regard them as spam. But only sometimes, it's quite random.

I think one of the reason of such behavior may be Inbox folder settings. Check in "IMAP-specific" sections if the additional options are set (maximum number of messages, time for store messages in the folder, compacting folder on exit etc.). May be one of this options is set and causes moving messages to the trash.

After my last post, I discovered entire labels (which show up as folders and subfolders in The Bat) were gone, along with their emails. I finally found a solution by enabling the All Main label. All the stuff in the disappearing folders is in there, and I'm slowly moving them back to where they should be.

It's not a spam thing, since some of the emails are a couple of years  old, and have never gone into the spam folder. Also, none of the  disappearing emails showed up in the spam folder.
The fact that entire labels disappeared makes me think it's a Gmail problem, since I would have to deliberately go into IMAP Commands->Manage IMAP Folders settings to delete them. Anyway, at least I can recover my emails, but I still don't know what caused the problem.

Thanks for everybody's help!
