Hi,
I had mistakenly upgraded to v10 fr om my v9. It was an older v9; I had to roll back for precisely this reason.
Also, I do not like to use mouse. It is much much faster to press a key on a keyboard than to navigate the menus with a mouse cursor. I had been a 20+years user of TheBat (I am serious), and one of the reasons had always been accessibility. It used to be lightning fast because of hot keys.
Some highlights:
1. In mail editor, Ctrl+A still selects all text, but THERE IS NO WAY TO UNSELECT FR OM KEYBOARD. If there is a way, please teach me. This is very important. It used to be, in older versions, that to unselect I simply had to press any arrow key... like it is in every text editor through the OS. Please teach me to do this in HTML editor (which I only use because of occasional need to insert a picture in the text... ) This is the main, major, feature of any text editor on the planet. It is incredibly frustrating to see this feature no longer present in new TheBat.
2. In folders, Ctrl+click on, say, sender's name, still filters all messages from the sender -- but Esc NO LONGER REVERTS back to the original view. How do I get back to showing all email, short of closing and reopening TheBat?
3. To make a new mail:
a) Ctrl+N
b) enter recipient
c) Tab, Tab, Tab to switch to the message text (which displays a default salutation, e.g. in my templates it is, "Hi John,")
d) the cursor is placed before "Hi John", which is just as well,
e) however, once I start typing (e.g., say I want to do "Hello John" this one time), THE TEXT APPEARS NOT WH ERE THE CURSOR IS BLINKING. In fact, the text appears after "Hi John,"
f) if I press Ctrl+Z to undo the change, the change is erased, but THE CURSOR IS IN A NEW PLACE ONCE AGAIN. It is now after the place wh ere it inserted the text which now displays an empty line.
4. I appreciate auto-replacing of "--" with an m-dash, but I would love to be able to switch this off. Sometimes, there are pieces of copypastable code and whatnot in emails so I would love to be able to have the text precisely as it's typed.
Again, not everyone wants to, or can, use a mouse.
For me, this makes TheBat completely unusable for, well, sending and reading emails.
Alas, I can no longer revert to my old versions since Gmail had changed browser authentication and TheBat's browser is not "secure enough", so I can't use it with new Gmail. I mean, it is bad enough that I am considering not using TheBat altogether and finding another client. But, after 20 years I would have loved to keep using it... I love TheBat for many reasons. But, honestly, I cannot imagine any email client on the planet, or any text editor at all, which will have issue #1... hopefully it's just a bug?
Please, please, oh please help me figure how to make the client keyboard accessible.
Thank you.
