10.4 no longer works, Had to revert to 9.5.1 to use TheBat
 
I installed 10.4 32bit  which seems to work fine. Once I tried to use the calendar function it hung. Restarting made no difference. I tried to go back to 10.1 without success. I uninstalled 10.4 and 10.1 and went to 9.5.1 which works fine. Reinstalling 10.4 didn't work. Trying repair and it made no difference. Anything else I can try?

You can update to v10-3-3-3 last version before 10.4

Don't forget to ask support about your "adventures" with v10.4

Sorry, forget to say I tried all the versions of 10 I had, including 10.3.3.3. I assume the message store is OK since 9.5.1 works.
 
I have the same problem.  THE Bat starts and occasionally checks email before freezing.  TWo pCX's  same problem.  Unusable. STarted since 10.4

I have the same issue from 10.4
when using The Bat,  and try to answer an email it freez for 20-30 sec.
Or when use any another program (change active window) and go back to any of open window of The Bat, it freez for 20-30 sec again.
Now I uninstalled 10.4.0.1  and install 10.3.3.3.  again, and it is Fine again.
I suppose there is a problem with email file handling part of the program.
 
I do confirm such a bug few times in a day (TB! have "freeze" for 10-30 seconds without any reason, v. 10.4).

Please report about it  to the support and send them link about this thread.

I encountered a similar issue with version 10.4 of The Bat email client. Whenever I attempted to respond to an email, the program would freeze for 20-30 seconds. Additionally, switching between active windows and returning to an open window of The Bat caused the same freezing problem. I resolved it by uninstalling version 10.4.0.1 and reinstalling 10.3.3.3, which resolved the freezing. It seems there might be a problem with the program's email file-handling component.

Agree with the email file handling as a fatal exception error is thrown on our side when replying to messages - the error specifies the attached logo.png in our reply emails. After closing and reopening TB, I'm able to reply but the error pops up again later when replying to someone elses email.
 
Has this issue were resolved in 10.4.0.2?
 
You can do not use new calendar feature. I am not use it now, for example.

I have observed such freezing after installation of new 10.4.0.9 beta version on 64-bit Windows 11. Using "/NoDirectX" parameter did not help. Only successful was complete deinstallation of The Bat! (including deleting RIT key in Windows register), and next the pure installation of 10.4.0.9 beta. Of course, the Mail directory was remained intact when The Bat! was deinstalled, so I can use it without problems.

Now freezing effect has disappeared.

It didn't work for me....both 10.4.0.1 and 10.4.0.9 beta were a mess after installation...I tried everything...remove the files, remove the registers, etc. and nothing is working till now....bad decision to upgrade from 9 to 10...I regret it...
 
You can install v. 10.2.1. This solves the problem  
 
Same freezing issue on 10.5.0 / Win11 pro --- when Replying or switching to any Compose window.
Disabling calendar and logo did not help.
 
For me only reinstalling 10.3.3.3 helped.
 
What's the version previous to 10.5 and where can I download it?

Same issue here. I'm installing every new v10 version with a hope for a proper fix. Also v10.5.1 today. Unfortunately, all The Bat! revisions released in the last year or so - freeze immediately when opening a mail editor window.

The good old V9.5.1 still works fine. I should demand a refund for the v10, which has never actually worked.

Are the Ritlabs engineers even working on the problem? Any method to contact them directly and potentially help (sending log files, etc.?)

Miloš, Thank you for the hint. It doesn't work for me. A RichText mail editor window also immediately freezes on open in v10.5.1. I see a subjective difference. The Bat! seems to freeze for a shorter period (~10 seconds) when opening a RichText editor window, while PureHTML editor seems to freeze the application for a longer period. Still, both editors remain unusable - as the application hangs-up multiple times after the initial freeze. It's impossible to write any e-mail.

Interesting. What about the plain text editor? You can force it's usage in Preferences -> Viewer/Editor.

In any case, this is a job for the devs. Hopefully you or someone else can help them reproduce the issue. I've never had such problems in v10 (or any other).
 
For those who's have "freezing": you can try running CEF in a single process (Options -> Preferences -> General) and mark checkbox about it.
