emails stored in folders (folder tree) just disappeared, several thousand emails in two of my folders have disappeared.

Is there a way of getting them back. This has happened before. In file explorer I see the following:
MESSAGES.BCK;239,994 KB
MESSAGES.IBK;1,273 KB
MESSAGES.TBB;144 KB
MESSAGES.TBN;38 KB
part0001.bin;163 KB
v10.4.0.1

Weird.. I'd start by making a backup of the full mail folder.

I assume that you can restore the backup (.bck) fr om the Tools | Restore page, but I've never used that function myself. Elsewhere (link) I read an old message from a German TheBat forum, wh ere it says that you can also do this:

Exit The Bat
(first make a backup of the folder that you'll be working on/in)
Delete the faulty messages.tbb file (and the messages.tbi index file if it exists)
Rename the messages.bck file to messages.tbb
Relaunch The Bat and see if the messages are now visible.
I volunteer as a moderator to help keep the forum tidy. I do not work for Ritlabs SRL.

click on any folder and press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+L

Another thing to try if the above fails (and of course after backing everything up): Menu item Folder -> Maintenance Center... turn on Check Integrity/Repair, turn everything else off, and click Start.
