Outlook IMAP message duplication

So, I've posted of late re: my reluctance to make the change to IMAP after 30+ years of managing e-mails with POP.  But, MS left me no choice.  So, I am now using IMAP.

Which leads to the reason for this post.  Every message I send winds up duplicated in the "sent" folder.  Every time, the message shows up twice.

Is there some arcane IMAP setting which I have messed up?  There are a number of the "IMP fine-tune" settings which I still don't quite get, even after reading the documentation.

Thanks.

And, sorry.  I'm otherwise somewhat of a power user.  I should be able to figure this out.  But, thus far, I can't.

Not an IMAP user, but is the correct folder defined as 'Sent' folder? The main folder definition is made server-side and your folder setup in The Bat should follow this.

It is.

Can anyone else comment?  This is getting annoying.  2 copies in the sent folder.  Every timne.

Have you checked your MS account SMTP settings to see if there's an option to store a sent message into a folder? I don't use any MS account but I've seen this in other places.

Have you examined the headers of the duplicates? Messages stored by The Bat during sending should have no Received headers. Messages stored by the server should have at least one Received header and possibly others added by the server.

Even though you saw this change when switching to IMAP, I suspect it's not directly related. Perhaps two copies were always being stored but with IMAP you see both, though I don't have an explanation as to what mechanism would do that. But your configuration for sending mail (SMTP) didn't change just because to switched to viewing mail via IMAP.

Will pursue that.  Thanks much.
