Unable to run The Bat v11.2.2 Runtime error 231 at 0000000000412357

Good morning,

When I tried to open The Bat! Prof. v11.2.2 today, I found that it gives the following error:  Runtime error 231 at 0000000000412357 and I can't open the program.
S.O.:Windows 10 22H2 19045.4957 x64
How can I solve the problem?
Regards

I have the exact same issue. It seems that The Bat gets worse after each upgrade. I need to access my emails!!!

wow. I just noticed that 6 hours are past since the original post and none of this company's support replied. It seems that this is not important for them.

Contacting support using the link above is your best bet for a problem such as this. We as fellow users can give some advice which may or may not work (and could make things worse, making the job harder for support).

Having said that, a few things to try:
- Back up your message base first by copying the whole folder to an external drive
- Run TB with the command-line option /ForceNoCEF
- Start Windows in Safe Mode and then try running TB
- Reinstall/Repair TB using the original installer

Is the email account a Microsoft account, such as Hotmail or Outlook?

Hi,

Post support solution:

We believe this issue is caused by the TBCIndex.edb index file. Please  open the mail data folder (by default located in  C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Roaming\The Bat! Pwd\) and delete this file.  Try to start The Bat!

We would also suggest you check your HDD/SSD for possible bad sectors or  any other issues related to the health status of your drive.

Deleting/Renaming (.old) this file TBCIndex.edb solve the problem.

Great, thanks for the feedback.

I was curious to see the size of this  TBCIndex.edb  file on my PC but strangely I cannot find it (Windows 10).

More strange I don't have any existing folder of The Bat here: C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Roaming\The Bat! Pwd\

I only have this folder  C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Local\The Bat! but without this  TBCIndex.edb  file

Any idea?

You may have put your mail data folder elsewhere, away from the default. See Options | Preferences | System | "Mail Directory".

Preferences are accessed from within the program (Options | Preferences) so, if you cannot run the program, you're basically stuck.

Are you getting the same runtime error that is being discussed in this topic, and have you tried the solutions offered?
