TBIndex too large (5 giga)

Hello,

I just noticed that my TBIndex (database file) is 5.5 giga...  It's huge. I suppose this is the reason why The Bat is so slow to launch (+/- 1 minute every time).

There is something I can do to reduce / compress it?  What is the role of TBIndex? Thanks

If you don't use the new Conversation View, you can turn indexing off under Options | Preferences | General. If that doesn't help (or if you do use the C.V.), I'd exit The Bat, rename the tbindex.db file to tbindex.old and re-launch The Bat. At that point it should create a new index file that will hopefully be smaller (this process may take a long time though, e.g. an hour or so).

Not so long after the indexing was fixed. On my ~25GB message base it takes minutes, running in the background. On an SSD though - on an HDD it could take longer.

Realistically, the size is a bit much, plus TB should not take minutes to load. For my message base of ~25GB the index takes up ~200MB, and TB starts up in seconds.

Thanks for this suggestion. I don't use conversation view so I renamed TBIndex and TB loads much faster!
I can delete this file?

Good! Yes, you can delete it, but first check the option "Disable Indexer..." in Properties -> General. Otherwise, TB will just create it again.

Thank you!
