More problems...Scrolling in the preview window, Mouse scroll is not working correctly

This just started yesterday.  I didn't change anything:  It just sort of appeared.

When I scroll a message in the preview window (with the mouse wheel), it scrolls way too far: two to three screens.  Scrolling by clicking on the scroll bar, however, scrolls properly.  This appears to just be present with HTML. Oddly, the first message I review when just starting TB scrolls properly.  But, after that, this problem surfaces.  And, it's not present in any other application: all scroll properly.

I thought it might be due to my recent conversion of my Outlook account from POP to IMAP, but this occurs with all mailboxes.

Details:  Yes, I am using the classic preview pane option.

No change with:
restarting TB
Compressing mailboxes
Repairing mailboxes
Rebooting machine

Any thoughts?

Thanks much.

A couple of things spring to mind:
- Change scroll wheel sensitivity in Windows settings
- Use the other non-CEF HTML viewer by running TB with the /ForceNoCEF command-line option

Be aware that not using CEF will also disable stuff implemented through CEF: Calendar, new Address Book interface, Conversation View, etc.

Thanks.  Will try to figure out command line options.

As to scroll wheel sensitivity, note my comment that scrolling in every other application remains normal.

Happy Friday.

Go to the properties of the shortcut you're using, and add the option to the end of the the Target field. It should read something like this:

"C:\Program Files\The Bat!\thebat64.exe" /ForceNoCEF

Another thing to try: reinstall/repair TB. Could be that something got corrupted in the CEF library.

Happy Friday to you, too.

ForceNoCEF didn't work.

I'm going to try updating to 11.3 [currently on 11.2.2] to see if the upgrade helps.  TB repair has caused me problems in the past.  But, I'll try that next.

Thanks much for your advices.

Do we know where the Chromium Embedded Framework settings are saved? Whether its in the registry or in a settings file, it seems likely to me that this is where the exaggerated mouse scroll speed for the browser has been set.

I don't know.  How do I figure this out?

I couldn't find any trace of TB's CEF in the registry. Or a way to to configure it using local files. It all seems to be hardcoded.

How did the upgrade to v11.3 go? Looks like a pretty solid version so far, at least in the v11 line.

11.3 seems to have fixed the scroll issue.  Whew.

Great, thanks for the feedback.

Is it time now to upgrade from v8.x.x? I heard stability a number of times here?

No one can tell for sure until you try. From my experience it is a pretty stable version, but I don't use Windows 11 (and don't plan to).

Update:  For completeness.

The dreaded scroll wheel problem recurred.  Running v11.3.  It had stopped for quite a long time, but it came back.

So, I did the "ForceNoCEF" option on a desktop shortcut.  For now, it seems to have fixed the problem.  Will report back if it fails again.

Big thanks to Mr. Radovanocvic.

Nope.  The scroll wheel problem has recurred.

I have opened a support ticket.
