Reinstalling The Bat! and keeping settings, but no backup

I have The Bat! installed on a different drive to where Windows is installed. Yesterday I lost my boot drive and had to reinstall Windows and The Bat. I still have thousands of emails where The Bat was installed, and I hoped that running the program, or a new installation over the original one would retain my settings and import my old emails. However, this didn't happen. Is there an easy way to get back to how it was, without having to create new folders and importing messages through the tools menu?

The procedure should have been:
Run TB
Create a new account
Point it to your old mail directory
Give your new account the same name as your old account had and TB will use the old settings and message base.

From your cry for help I understand that you didn't do this. I presume you created a new account and collected some messages, but only in the Inbox.

Close TB.
Copy the messages.tbb and .tbi files from your inbox to a save location.
Now copy your complete old account on top of your new one.
Start TB
Everything should be as it was before.
Now you can get your new Inbox back in two ways.

Either import it (Tools -> Import > From TB msgbase v2) or create a new 'empty' folder, close TB and drop the messages.tbb/.tbi files you saved into the directory matching your new empty folder.

Thanks, I got it sorted, though a rather longer way round as I was unable to get online to read your reply. This time I'm (ahem) making backups, and I've also exported the relevant registration entry, in the hope that it makes it easier should it happen again.
