The Bat Crashes on Startup after Getting 1st Email + Fix for Developer

Today my copy of The Bat died after getting the 1st message, and I looked on the forum and found the BayesIt plugin problem, but I don't use it and it isn't even loaded on mine.

So I downgraded my 3.6 to 3.5 and had the same problem. So I logged into my webmail, and lo and behold some spammer/phisher had sent me an email with an entire copy of the email in the subject line (one big HTML mess in the subject header)

Since it crashes by just dying, it tells me you guys are probably using a fixed size buffer for storing the subject, or for receiving each header line, and this thing is longer than the buffer.

Same problem here.  I have about 10 accounts in The Bat! I cannot access now because it crashes immediately.  I hope there will be a response to this quickly.

I submitted a high priority ticket but nothing yet.  I'm afraid I can't wait much longer.  Have you made any progress CPU Killer?

I was able to do what CPU Killer did.  I renamed all my folders in my MAIL folder.  Then eliminated them one by one until I founf the account where the problem was.  Luckily I have webmail on tha account.  I deleted each message one at a time until my pop3 came through.  CPU killer is right, someone smashed a bunch of HTML in the subject line.  I can send it to the staff to inspect if they want.

The subject line begins with:

This problem has been mentioned on the beta list too, so the developers are (should be) aware of it. I don't recall whether it has been fixed yet.

I found a similar problem.

I tried many different things and the only that seems to work is changing the number in "Account properties/mail management/maildispatcher" to a digit greater than 0.

Afetr that I was able to download without problems. Let see if that work for you.
