Can two PCs access & process one common a/c, 2 users, 2 different XP machines, share 1 email account?

We have two installations of Bat! on two separate XP Pro machines, linked on a simple peer-to-peer network. We want to be able to be able to download, access and process all emails within only one account. Even if I duplicate all account details and directories across both machines, the Windows user logins mean that effectively each user is shielded from each others separately downloaded emails, regardless of where I point the Bat! to the default directory. I've come to believe that since we are using TheBat! as two single installations it is simply not possible. Is there any other way to configure Bat! so it will meet our needs.

Things I have tried:
Synchronisation - Clunky. Not practical for us. Not a fan.

Creating a filter that would post email to some commonly accessible location. Doesn't work.

Been using Bat! since way back when, but now our practical daily needs are changing I would hate to have to use something else. There's got be a way, surely? Please?

What if the mail folder is common for both installations?
Like one is set to keep messages in C:\thebat
You may share this folder, map it as drive F:\ or something on another PC, and set F:\ as a mail folder on it.
I've never tried this, just a suggestion.

Also i remember thebat can act as a server for other bats within the network, but this(i think) should be set when you install it. Not sure if you can change the mode after the installation.

I do this on a single PC with two bootable systems. I keep all of my TB stuff in a folder that is mapped as E:\THEBAT to each system. Whichever system I boot from, everything appears identical. You ought to be able to achieve the same thing using two physical PCs as follows.

Let's assume you have your TB stuff in a folder on System A - e.g. C:\THEBAT. On both systems, create a logical mapping to the disk where you keep your TB stuff. For example...

NET USE X: \\SYSTEMA\C$

Then all you need to do is configure TB (on both systems)to point at X:\THEBAT.

I'm not sure about this (and don't want to test it on some Gigs of mail), but could it be that changing the default directory later after installation is not automatically moving accounts already set-up?! if so you may have to change the directory in the account settings instead of the user options...

the depicted way of sharing a folder should work - however, I'm not sure if TB has something like a collision management (what will happen, when the two installations try to work contradictory things on the common mail base - is there a lock mechanism?) - does anyone have any experience with such?

however, I'd recommend to test this thing thouroughly before using it on important mail data!

PS: I successfully tried such an installation with an encrypted mail base using a token - but there is of course no danger of acting against each other as only one of the two installations are "hot" at each given time using the hardware dongle...
