Synchronise and backup problems, The Bat Pro & Voyager problems

Hi,

Having used The Bat! and found it to be the best email client by far, I took advantage of the Christmas specials and registered the Pro version. :D

Unfortunately my problems now seem to have started.

I am trying to use Voyager too so I can have email 'on the go' but I can not get it to synchronise with the pro version. After completeing the first step the second one comes up with an error that it can not write an 'account.efn' file. I have checked all system and file permissions and disk space and there is nothing wrong there.

However, it appears this is not the only time this error occurs  :o  I have re-installed the Pro version so I can use 'on the fly' encryption, but when I try to restore my backup I made before un-installing it erros out with the same response as the synchronisation failure above. :!:

Hope it is something stupid I am doing rather than a major fault with The Bat! :|

Anyone else have this problem? Anyone else who can offer any advise and things to try?

Thanks in advance for any help proffered.

I don't really know whether TBpro and TBV should be able to synchronize, keep in mind that TBV uses at least one file that TBpro doesn't use.
Anyhow, I only use TBV as a temporary solution and as such I've set it to leave my mail on the server so my main TB config is able to download it too.
In case you'd like to have a copy of your own mail, I'd suggest that you change your templates in TBV so that you're BCC-ing yourself (%BCC="MyAddress")

I syncronize TBP and TBV without any technical problems.

The only thing is - I fear (and the Help is not very clear on that) of loosing data because of syncronizing the main installation to the half-empty mobile one.
I fear that if I choose the "wrong" direction - the main install may loose some data because it is not in the mobile one.
:)
But this is just about my stupidity rather than the Bat!'s technical problems...

I back-up both installations before the synronization, and have several times synched them successfully.

It would be nice to have the Help file more stupid-friendly...

You don't have to afraid of that. The nature of TB's synchronizing means that it only adds messages, it doesnt delete them.

Well that's great news, so there is hope I can get it going soon. It seems a bit strange to me to use Voyager on the desktop too when I have Pro already up and running (and after all you have to purchase Pro to get Voyager :!: )

Well thats great too, so at least once I get everything running I should be in a position to take control back of my own inbox  :)  :D

Hello again,

Just a quick note this time to say that I have just tried restoring a backup I made only two days ago and I get the same error as in the original post.

This is a Pro backup, restoring into Pro and nothing has been changed, but still the same problem.

Any ideas what is wrong here...

Cheers.

On further testing I now get this error when trying to restore a previous backup

access violation at address 00b72b78 in module 'thebat.exe'. Read of address 00000000.

Anyone have any ideas at all?

I have tried un-install, re-install and all the usual things I can think of. Everything was fine the other day, now suddenly it all seems to be falling apart :(

I am not sure what caused this as it still happens now and then, but it seems to have quietened down since I moved the backup file to another drive  :!:

I put the Bat's backup file on another drive and after practically giving up after exhausting every avenue, I thought I would give it one last shot, and it worked :)  I tried it again as a check and it now seems fine  :D The backup/restore function works.

I thought possibly that my drive was getting flaky, but I have run many tests and programs over it and all seems fine and I am still using it (although I have backed it up) and it is now a week later than my original posts and still going strong.

Strange, very strange indeed 8)
